If the visa is from October 1st 2005 and OPT expires on 6th AUgust 2005, legally u can remain in the country between 6th AUgust to 1st October 2005 but cant work.
One thing is u can plan ur India vacation during that time get Visa stamp at CHennai and comeback. Alternatively if working for Desi consultant u can delay ur payroll until u get Visa for those two months.
My brother had similar situation this year. His EAD expired on AUgust 22nd and new visa started on October 1st |

Vamsea mama....i dont think u'll have any problems......if u get ur h1B recipet number u can continue ur work...this is only for people shifting from OPT to H1B.....i remember its legal to work.....but just check with USCIS.
and since u've valid status till aug 6th...u can stay here till oct 6....so no probs in ur case at all be cool and enjoy urselves |

in one year usually you willa ccrue about 3 weeks of paid vacation, so try to use it then, that way the time frame will be less and the rest one month try to go on unpaid leave or soemthing. |

This year's quota is over. Forget abt it. USCIS will start accepting apps from april 1, 2005. So ur employer can apply for ur next year quota. Now u will be out of status between aug 6, 2005 and oct 1, 2005. If ur employer applies for ur H1B before aug 6, 2005 and gets u a receipt no then u r eligible to stay in the country during that time.
Usually with desi consultants, they will ask u to work during that time and will pay you in bulk (saying some bonus or paid vacation) in october 2005. Hope i am clear. |

Ok if H-1 cap is over then I guess you can do this.
Apply for H-1 in April 2005. Once you have applied for a H-1, I think you can still stay back in the country (legally). The only thing I am not sure is if you can work from Aug-2005 to Oct-2005.

My OPT ,ll get expired on August 6 th 2005.
I just got a job few weeks back.. I told my employers abt sponsoring my H1 visa.. They are willing to do that..
the problem is,,
As this years H1 cap is already over...
Please give me some suggestions , possible things that i shd do(ask my employers to do) ..
