Thanks,Sollu Babai;
I do know that I can legally stay in the US within that period, but What I'm concerned is about whether I can work during that period-If a non-profit organization files my H1 in 2006

Hey folks, Need Some Help!!
I'll be starting my OPT from AUG 2005, hence the max. date I can work on my OPT is July 31st 2006.
If I/corporation/ consultant file my H1B visa next year when the quota opens in March 06, the INS will start issuing H1 for that year from OCT 1st onwards.
In the meanwhile- i.e in the period will I be able to work at all ?

If so, Howz that possible?

Also, If I work for a non-profit organization & if my company files a H1,I know that the H1B cap for 85,000 visas do not apply for me then.
My question is:

When do I need to file my H1 for the year 2006 & when will the INS start giving the H1Bs for non-profits every year.

Can I/organization file it as and when I need it & get it then itself, without actually having wait till OCT like the normal corporate H1B visas.

Is that different from the ordinary corporate H1B processes?

Finally,Can I transfer my H1B for a non-profit organization to an ordinary corporation later??
