Stocks surged Friday afternoon as a mostly upbeat June jobs report reassured investors that the labor market is improving, but not so quickly as to impact the pace of the Federal Reserve's rate hiking campaign. The Dow Jones industrial average (up 121.07 to 10,423.36, Charts) and the Nasdaq composite (up 22.66 to 2,098.32, Charts) both gained around 1.1 percent, with just over two hours left in the session.
