Thanks for the explanation. That does make sense. I was very dissppointed
when I found my CD had been tampered with. With due repect to the "laws of
the country" (read it as double standards), here's what I feel about this
whole issue - the first big slap on the face of these "lawmakers" is that
the song in question was composed by AR Rahman and lyrics written by Javed
Akhtar - people who have risen above religious barriers to give us gems we
cherish forever. The second big slap is from music lovers like us, who are
moved by an "O palanhare" as much as by a "Piya haji ali" or a
"Noor-un-ala". The success of ARR lies right there. Can we ever thank Him
enough?

regarding saudi arabia...its not just saudi arabia..its KSA kingdom of saudi arabia. It has a king and he passes the law. so there is no freedom at all relegious or otherwise.
they have different laws for muslims and "kafirs"
they have different laws for saudis and non saudis
there are bigger fish to fry in KSA before fighthing the battle to let ARRs music in the country.

Hello guyz...
Thought i would pitch in my voice here.. since i know a lot about the behind
the scenes which goes down in the music industry in the Gulf or Middle East
Countries as we call it.. well we have basically two players down here
Vanilla Music and Megastar... Megastar is a division of Sony Music
Worldwide.. so anything released by Sony Music India is released by
Megastar.. the rest which is a major bulk of the Indian movies is released
by Vanilla Music.. and yes t-series is a part of their distribution deal...
Anyway getting to the point someone mentioned that these things like song
missing do happen in Saudi Arabia... thats where i am gettting into?? well
the ME Countries do have censorship laws in case u dont know especially
countries like Saudi Arabia... where the photos of girls are painted black
etc.... So what happens is before the music is released they go through a
censorship process within the company itself.. i know this because one of my
friends work for the censorship department in Megastar... Well the process
is that every movie and album is listened to properly and every offensive
word or scene is taken out... It is done so within the company so that when
the product reaches the Government Censorship Agency its clean... otherwise
they just BAN the whole album which is a big loss for the company, sometimes
the entire album goes BANNED FOR JUST ONE WORD...!! Now coming back to the
point in this case the song is about Lord Ram and Sita, so according to the
Saudi Regulations the promotion or anything to do with any other religion is
not allowed.. u guyz might think this is sick but that how the country's
rules are...!!! Now you might be thinking what does it have to do with the
CD i bought in Dubai.... Well the answer is simple.. Saudi Arabia is the
biggest market in the Middle East so the company which has the delearship
instead of doing two editions one for Saudi Arabia and one for the other
regions.. they decide to produce a single version for the entire region to
reduce their PRODUCTION COSTS...!! SIMPLE AS THAT.. SO NEXT TIME YOU WONDER
SOMETHING MISSING IN YOUR ALBUM OR A BEEP SOUND IN BETWEEN THE LYRICS YOU
KNOW WHY..!! ITS SIMPLY CALLED CENSORSHIP!!! AND YES ONE MORE THING WE DO
HAVE A SEPERATE ALBUM COVER THAN IN INDIA.. THE ONES IN WHICH THE LADIES ARE
DRESSED DECENTLY...!! WHAT I CALL THE SPECIAL COVER'S!!!
And since i am here i thought i would let you guyz know this.. the Vanessa
Mae Album Choreography is out in the ME Countries saw it last week couldnt
beleive it since its not even released in India at that time.. anyway the
store guy was thinkin i was some weirdo since i asked him whether it was
ORIGINAL... He said its been out for a month or so.. so u get to atleast
here that before the guyz down in India....!!! haha we beat you to that
one..!!!

Hi Friends,
I live in Dubai and yesterday i purchased the audio CD of SWADES. I was shocked to see that the song "Pal Pal Hai Bhari" has been censored from the CD. The lyrics to the song and the song listing on the back cover has been blackened with a marker or something. Also the song is missing from the CD, instead "Yeh Tara Woh Tara" is repeated twice on the CD.
Has anyone experienced the same ?
Please help.
