I remmeber reading in the Time magazine about making of Troy that petersen wolfgang passed up the oppurtunity of directing Gladiator citing that the script was not good enough to be made into a movie.

achilles mother intro varaku movie baane laagaadu, kani diro ni fault pattataaniki ledu, this movie should have been shot as a trilogy like the LOTR, aadiki unna 3 hrs lo ma try chesaadu, so he had to make changes to the original script, book expectations tho velthe sure gaa disappoint avuthaav.
chalam mama, anattu, achilles mother aadini teesukelli river shtix lo munchadam, just holding his heel, that's the reason he is invincible everywhere else excpet the heel.
prsias cousin of hector and paris falling in love with achilles is true, it's their in the book.
paris gaadu agamemnon brother original husband of helen tho fight chesi odipoyi paaripothe helen asahyinchukuntundi, that's when the effect of cupid wears out. adi chupincha ledu.
this movie is more about achilles rather than the troy war, even the trojan horse epdisode hasnt gotten much footage. zeus gurinchi aithe asalu sari aina mention ae ledu
maan we can talk about greek mythology forever.
this is a good movie to watch and get into endless arguments with your friends, which is a lot of fun.
so i would say watch it and then come up with your own theories on how it should have been made.

Hustler - I did not see any Ajax character.
PKM- some story about D man getting to see some lady with powers. so whichever part of his body she sees, would become impregnable - sort of. manodu full nanga velthunte aadi deggariki krishan kameena (KK) saar vachi endi sigguleda full nanga naa antadu. manodu siggu padipoyi, pelvic area ni cover chesukuntadu. so aame full body choosthadi akkada thappa.
scene cut chesi, Bheem -D fight appudu, D ni ekkada kottina emi kaadu. appudu KK saar 'akkada' kotta mantadu but adi dharma yudham kaadu. aina B man rechipoi kottesi D man ni champesthadu. adi choosi balaraamudiki kaali B man ni champutha antadu. KK vachi begging sesi, kadha sukhantham sesthadu.

yeah.. intersting analogy to duryodhana there. I agree too. Infact most of the chaarcters resemble our mythological characters.
Ramayanam lo laaga Sita ni etthukellinattu .. ikkada helen ni ethukeltharu( diff undhi.. helen intentionally goes with paris 'coz of cupid arrow)and "Ajax" character ni kumbakarnudi toh polchochu. I wonder if there is any mention about "Ajax" character in the movie? |

hustler - that's my thinking too. after achilles defeats hector, he goes on a victorious parade around the city of troy. Paris spots his weakness which is his heal and kills him at that point.
movie - achilles kills hector, drags him along his chariot and goes back to his tent. he is killed by paris only in the climax. then there's this love interest for achilles who happens to be a cousin of hector and paris. I wonder if this character exists in Iliad original. movei doesnt talk about achilles heal at all, everyone gasps at his seeming invincibility but no one talks about his mother, dip ni the river for eternity, heal being a weakness etc.
endo movie antha tharu-maaru, ishtam vachinattu theesesaru, some masala movie with well executed shots. specially the hector-achilles fight scene was very well done. and I have a new found respect for Eric Bana, he's very good. HULK did no justice to his talent. infact, he was on the conan o'brian show and was quite spontaeneous there too.
interesting parallel in our mythology is about duryodhana having his pelvic area as the only weakness, very similar to the achilles story.

Hustler - Paris was a loser but watch the movie to see what he is. I wonder if there is a fight between melaneus and paris in the original. here, there's one and this guy acts like a wussy. Nenu Iliad sadavale. midi midi jnanam so maybe ur right in the way they dealt with the character.
Also Ulysses is reduced to a side show. they might have as well named the movie 'Brad's Troy' :p

Tell me guys. who donned the role of Ulysseus?
I am surprised that nothing was mentioned about the character of Ulysseus in the reviews and the TIME's article on Making of Troy. After all he is the HERO of the trojan war. I mean he is the architect of wooden horse plan.
I wonder if the movie has those classic lines that Homer's Illiad had .. like
"Beware Trojans .. do not trust the greeks even though they bring gifts"..One amazing literary piece. |

asalu original story ni left and right maarchi padesaaru. there's no soul in the movie, picks up only in the later half with the fight between achilles and hector. I think motre than Pitt, this movie is gonna give a life to Eric Bana. he was really good. then peter o toole was fantastic too as the old king. asalu pitt-bana, pitt-o'toole scenes thappa inkem pedha scenes levu. some CGI effect war shots are nice, liked camera movement in some scenes. But baane bore dobbindi first 1.30 hr almost.

i saw it on sunday mamalu. ok movie. but since i remembered the original story, felt a bit uncomfortable during the ending of the movie. the story has been altered to accomadate a fitting end to a star(brad pitt) instead of going by the original story. mamalu scenelo emaina kanipinchinda? naku emi kanipincha ledu.
