The talk of the town is ‘you get award if you are influencial and exert it on some of the committee members. The films entering the fray are supposed to have minimum standards, not just box office win. So are actors. Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna shared best actor award, keeping them on the same level. This happened for the first time. kikikki. Nagarjuna ni Dekaadaa? Chiru ni Dekaadaa?

The awards for 2003 surprised many, for the basic reason ‘ITHE’ that won national award as best regional film was ignored. In fact people thought there was competition between for ‘Missamma’ and ‘Ithe’ for the best film slot. There is guideline for selection. The film should have a bearing on the society with message and positive outlook and artistic values. That is the reason why pure comedies are simply ignored for awarding. A comedy writer complained against this attitude. ‘Okkadu’ is a violent film and dealt with faction feuds. How can this be considered for Silver Nandi award. The story too is simple in a way the hero goes to the rescue of a girl he too loves, who is about to be narried forcibly by a faction leader. Gummadi Venkateswara Rao a staunch advocate against such violent films headed the jury. Well it is a democratic set up. http://www.greatandhra.com/movies/analysis/nandi_r apture.html
