As far i know VA lo most of the movies bokke, except Malliswari.
Even good movies like Satyam, Varsham hardly got the break even. Venky, Nenunnanu Pedda Bokka

ANJI ki 30% kooda raledu annadi makes sense. but for tagore it is bootu.
also in some small centers KAD directly involved instead of selling the movie for Tagore. They tried to sell ANJI but no one came forward by looking at the prices.

if u take individual screenings like one/two shows then at my place it is always chiru/nag/venky. Most of their films were not losses i can say.
the article wont mention about manmadhudu, santosham. they were good money spinners. Tagore had the distinction of screening for three shows and there were about 400 people all together for these 3 shows. That made them to quote ANJI for nearly $3000 and no screening of ANJI.

Definitely Tagoree didnt collect as much as Indra collected in US.
FOr example in our place we had 4 shows for Indra out of which one with packed crowds, second one nearly full and other two shows kind of empty.
But Tagore has just one show. |

Highlights
-Megastar has the largest drawing power, be it in the USA or in India
- Successful films (in the US market) are NuvvE kaavaali, khushi, Indra
- films like Daddy, Student No.1 for a price of $40,000; neither of them made half of the price in the USA.
- Films like ChiruavvutO, Takkari donga were also a total washout
- Tagore and Anji, however, left a huge dent in the collections, though Tagore was a huge hit in India and Anji was also a 100-day grosser there. Bought at $100,000 approximately, Tagore recovered a minimum of 30% of the costs, and might get more through the DVD rights, but one can’t say for sure if that can account for the remaining 70%! Anji was released with a deficit even in India, and so that’s a different story altogether
-Among Balakrishna’s films, only Narasimha Naidu in the recent past made some money in the USA. All other films left their distributors in more or less losses
-The only film of Mahesh Babu that ran successfully to become a good hit in the USA is okkaDu. All other films including the recent disaster nijam were unable to make any profits
- NTR’s Simhaadri made some money, but was not really a great hit. Other films like Student No.1, aadi, and the recent Andhraawaalaa incurred losses to the distributors, though the first two were among the good hits or the top grossers of Telugu Cinema.
- Nagarjuna, who has mostly family and lady audience among his fans, His films such as santOsham were good hits in the theatre as well as in DVD circuit. His action films like Sivamani and semi-hit film like nEnunnaanu thus were left with loss in the USA,
- films hit like kalisundaam raa…! and malleeSwari were hits in the USA too, whereas films like Vasu, jayam manadEraa, and Gemeni were disastrous at the box-office.
- Films which made some money in the recent times are Satyam and varsham to some extent.
-Less said the better about films of other heroes; they generally do not even recover the costs of the prints! Films like Boys, nee manasu naaku telusu, okariki okaru, Seetayya, missamma, ataDE oka sainyam, sambaram, jayam, aunu…vaaLLiddarU ishTapaDDaaru!, gangOtri, elaa cheppanu..!, nuvvE.. nuvvE…, peLLaam ooreLite..., chantigaaDu etc. didn’t even make into big centers
