4 shows on sunday originally planned 12.30 and 3. One show only for 12.30 (lack of crowds) and 2 shows at 3. there were about 60/70 people for 12.30 show and for 3pm show both screens were almost full barring few rows in the front. People njoyed the movie very much business wise: Gemini were adamant on 4K for the area. No one opted and hence they themselves screened with help from local guys. around 475 tickes might have got cut (this number may vary little bit) which means $4750 total gross. Now deduct the 4 screens rent (350 for each approx and dont know if they had to pay for the non-showing screen as they booked in adv) which comes to 3350. Add the overhead costs like money to local telugu association, efforts and time spent on dropping off the publicity material in indian grocery stores, money for phone calls, shipping charges (as boston is linked may be they would have got the print by Car saving few bucks). all in all people were ready to throw $3000 to Gemini for the movie. But gemini did not oblige. So regular exhibitors enjoyed the movie by paying $10 ticket price without any hassles. P.S.: There might be some variations but these are approximate and bottomline is Gemini did not gain anything by screening themselves in lot of areas except for the extra efforts. |
