nice article...It all comes as a package. The best example to justify the phrase is the plight of our telugu heroines. They enjoy such a high status in the society, craze and appreciation amongst the movie goers and 7 digit incomes. But, one of the problems they face is the misbehavior by certain elements during their public appearances. Though its on the rise, not a single heroine have spoken about it print as it only causes further embarrassment, and makes way for more such incidents. Recently, the heroine of a recently released arty film went to the coastal Andhra region to promote her film. While she walked onto to the dais, there wasn’t any protection and the public had free access to her, and mobbed her. And what happened after that need not be explained! A couple of weeks back another popular heroine attended and performed in an Awards Night. The organizers dint arranger a car for her, not did she have one of her own. After the program was over, she walked out of the stadium to take a lift from the a few other celebrities before the celeb-gazers thronged her. And a kinky gatherer tried running his hands on the heroine, and succeeded too. Before things got worse the security personnel surrounded her, dispersed the crowd and escorted her to a car. Earlier this year, during the “vijaya yatra” of the blockbuster film, the heroine visited the film-crazy coastal Andhra region to promote her film, where she stood on a truck that traveled through the street. Unluckily for her she tripped and fell into the crowds beside, and that was the end of it. She was pulled back immediately on the truck after which she broke down, and refused to campaign further and returned to Hyderabad.
On analyzing why such things happen a popular heroine who wishes to remain anonymous says, “This is not the reaction of all crowds, only a few unruly ones. I have attended film functions, yatras and opened showrooms, and not always such things happen. The guys who attempt such things keep in mind our glamorous on-screen image and perceive wild things about our off-screen life. The educated crowds woo us, or maybe pass a cheeky remark but never breach into our personal space.” There are laws protecting not only celebrities, but also common women from being molested.. Err.. ‘Manhandled’, but action can be taken only when reported which most people refuse to do, to save their dignity.
