Thanks Satyam garu for the info on Bangaru Talli. I remember watching the movie on ETV last time when I visited India. I still am feeling that it is color movie. Anyways, considering your knowledge (that includes movie release dates ) I have to believe that it is a B&W movie. |

Dear friend Honey Mist, Bangaru thalli which came in 1971 is not a color film. In this film, Krishnam raju played the role of Sunildutt (in Mother India), which got him good name. Rajendra Kumar's role was played by Shobhan. Before Krishnaveni, in one ANR's color film, Krishnam Raju acted. I could not recall the name at this time. It might be Datthaputrudu. I am not sure. |

Hero Krishna holds the record for acting in more number of color films as HERO than anyone else in Telugu.

Satyam garu, since Sobhan acted in Lava Kusa, I think that should be his full length color movie. I think Krishnam Raju acted in color film much before 'Krishna Veni', in 'Bangaru Talli' (remake of Mother India). |

If we consider even partly color films, then even before Lavakusa, some films have some songs and scenes shot in color. Ex: NTR's Divabalam which was released on September 17, 1959 had some scenes and songs picturized in color(Daivabalam is the first ever film acted by Shobhan). Some tamil dubbing films which were shot in color were released even before Lavakusa. First telugu full-length color film is Lavakusha. It was started in 1958 and was released on March 29, 1963. It is a GEVA color film (This type of films needs immense patience of artists as it generates immense heat during the shooting. So, GEVA color was a failure). First ANR's color film is Amarashilpi Jakkanna (historical) which was released on March 27, 1964. First social color picture is Krishna's Tene Manasulu (March 31, 1965). Shobhan's first full-length color film is Iddaru Ammayilu (October 2, 1970)(This is even ANR's first full-length social color movie also). Even before Alluri Seetharamaraju, Chandra mohan acted in Sampoorna Ramayanam(March 16, 1972), Ganga Manga(November 30, 1973)and even some other films. Krishnam Raju's first color film as a hero, I think Krishnaveni(1975; I am not sure). Even before Alluri, Vijayalalitha-KSR Das's film "Oka naari Vanda Tupakulu" was shot in cinemascope (only its climax). Krishna's Gooduputani was made in ORWO color(May 28, 1972)

For ANR, I think 'Amara Silpi Jakkanna' is the first full length color movie, though he had a couple of movies with only songs picturised in color. I remember 'Poola Rangadu' in which there is a eastman color song. |

vENU sOdarA, LavaKhusha pirst Eastman(??) Color!! What about ARADHANA(NTR), DASARABULLODU etc? Deva Color ante yenti? ALLURI SEETHARAMARAJU speciality yenti? 1st Cinema Scope movie aa? Ye prasna la ki samadhanalu telisi kuda cheppaka poyaro, meeku ika cinema la gurinchi yevi gurthundakunda ide naa sapam Ramu Sodara!! lavakuSa was the first color movie made in geva colour (not dEva colour as you mentioned). it was the name of the company (like eastman, kodak etc.). tEnemanasulu was the first movie made in eastman colour (later which became the brand for telugu movies). allUri is the first scope movie in telugu simhAsanm is the first 70mm movie with 6 track stereophonic sound in telugu. mOsagALLaku mOsagADu is the first cowboy movie in telugu. ANR's movie sipAyi cinnayya was made in color in parts (like special songs now a days, they used to use the colour film roll for songs/climax fight etc.). i think sampUrNa rAmAyaNam was SObhan bAbu's first colour movie. it is hard to tell regarding kRshNam rAju because he has acted as villain in some movies. candramOhan ki sirisiri muvva or another movie around that time frame anukunTA |
