The reviewer will loose inner meaning of the lyric which is very important for any lyric... ilanti review doesnt give a real feel of the song.. |

Technically I dont find much in Zone5 reviews. They dont go to details other then explaining the meaning of the lyrics word by word. ( I feel like his review is prati padardam not a review) He doesnt go to situation explaining the aptness of lyric to the situation in movie. he doesnt go in detail of the music too.. All the details regarding the movie/song are compiled thats all.. |

This is my all time favorite in terms of tune, lyrics and the awesome picturisation..thanks once again Three seas – the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean – merge in a holy confluence, a Sagara Sangamam, at Kanya Kumari, the southern most tip of India. It is as much a spiritual setting as it is a geographical curiosity. Its spectacular sunrises, sunsets, and exuberant waves make it an ideal setting for many emotional scenes and songs in movies. When three stalwarts – Illayaraja, Bharathi Raja and Veturi – join hands to create a song, it becomes another Sagara Sangamam of similar proportions. The movie is Seetakoka Chiluka, the song is “Sagara Sangamame”. The song erupts as an emotional outburst, when the girl, vexed with the boy’s antics, gives a good hard slap on his face one fine day. Result is the spontaneous buildup of a poetic crescendo that gushes out like an oceanic storm. The song is composed in Hindola Ragam, known for its ability to portray the pristine beauty of the mornings and nature. Equally notable are the opening notes that build a crescendo to initiate the singing. Illayaraja uses the interludes as an opportunity to paint a picture of tempestuous grandeur. He uses strings to dramatize the ferocity of the waves and the intensity of the emotions. He even simulates the sound of hard-hitting slaps again and again to remind the heroine's slap, midway through the song. Veturi pens another immortal song. His precious pearls of words – Kala, Ila, Ala, Alaka, Pulaka, Suma Sukumari, Kadali Keratam – mesmerize us as they hit the shore, rise into the air and sprinkle down in a shower of aesthetics. Sagara (seas) Sangamame (confluence) Pranaya (romantic) Sagara (seas) Sanagamame.. This is a confluence of the oceans. This is a confluence of two romantic seas too. While the location refers to Kanya Kumari, where three seas merge, the occasion merges two oceans of love. As the boy and girl are poles apart socially, their coming together is akin to two oceans coming together. The occasion is momentous. Kalale (dreams) Alalai (waves) Egasina (ascend) kadalidi (ocean) Kalalo (dreams) Ilalo (reality) Dorakani (unexpected) Kalayika (union) This is the ocean, where my dreams are waves. This is a union, which you cannot expect in a dream or reality. Kanya Kumaree (location as well as the maiden girl) nee padamulu (feet) nene Kadali Keratamai (sea wave) kadigina (wash) vela “Oh, maiden, I become a ocean wave to wash your feet at this time.” That is a note of gratitude to the location, for bringing them together. Or perhaps, a note of apology to the girl, for his misdeeds of the past. Suma (flower) Sukumari (delicate) nee Choopula (glances) ke Tadabadi (fumble) varamulu (favors) adigina vela “Oh, girl (delicate as a flower), I fumble after your ferocious glances and ask for favors at this time.” That should be enough to melt the most recalcitrant lady in the world, I suppose. She joins the fray with a note of regret. The orchestra stands still to celebrate the teasingly intimate moment. Aligina (Sulk) na tholi (first) alakalu (sulks) neelo Pulakalu repi (flutter of emotions) puvvulu visirina punnami ratiri (fullmoon night) navvina vela Sagara Sangamame.. “They are my first sulks. They created a flutter of feelings in you, and threw a torrent of flowers at you, to make the full moon night sparkle with laughter, this is indeed a merger of oceans.” Hmm. That was a note of approval and an explanation for her role in the skirmish. Bharata Bharathi (mother India) Pada Sannidhilo (feet) Kula mata (religions) sagara sangama sruthilo (harmony) The boy goes on solemnizing the occasion by making a vow of love. “At the feet of Mother India, at this place of the harmonious union of many religions.” Kanya Kumari, the location, is indeed the feet of Mother India, and it is a confluence of Hinduism and Christianity – the respective religions of the boy and girl. The boy also declares that his love is beyond the religious divide between them. Veturi perhaps wanted to show his respect for the great director Bharathi Raja also in the lyric. Na rathi (my Venus) neevani valapula harathi (a welcome ritual of love) Hrudayamu (heart) pramidaga (lamp) veligina vela “I proclaim that you are my lady of love, and here is my garland of love. I light up my heart as a tribute to our love”. He worships her with all the symbols of his own religion. The girl is equally moved. Paruvapu (my youth) uravadi (hurried) paruvidi (races) Nee vodi (in your lap) kannula neeridi (teary eyed) kalisina manasuna Sandelu (evenings) Kumkuma chindina (saffron) Vela “My youth raced ahead into your lap, with tears in the eyes, and in the union of our hearts, the evenings painted the skies with saffron red”. Veturi sprinkles a splash of Kumkuma, the Hindu symbol of auspicious beginning, at the union of their hearts. It’s a noble reciprocation on the girls’ part to invoke a symbol of the boy’s religion, to display her spiritual harmony. Sagara Sangamame Pranaya Sagara Sanagamame.
