here the subject of the topic is the dubutant director and IMHO i have expressed my opinion around that only.
since i haven't seen mass, didn't go into details of the movie.
as the other two movies are not released yet, i haven't gone into much details.
the only thing i was discussin in the case of the other movies was the capability of the producers going by their previous movies. in the case of VV since the producer is also a debutant there is not much history to talk about. |

most of MS raju movies with new or flop directors it will be ghost directed by MS. anduke aadu alantollani teesukuntadu. kakapote manchi visualization of scenes etc., vunnai eediki. so should be commended. only mistake from him in recent times was deviputrudu.

III and final part on swarna subba rao and VV:
the director tried to follow his mentors foot steps by trying to slowly build the tempo and showed sparks of brilliance in some scenes. but luck was not on his side. let's see if he gets a second chance and how he fares if he does get a second chance. |

due to the length of the post, i had to post it in two parts:
contd. from my previous post rgearding VV:
inspite of starting earlier, this movie was given second preference to that of the same hero's remake movie and understandably so. if the remake was delayed, then some scenes might have been used in other movies (which is not new to the telugu film industry). during that time the director should have concentrated more on the screenplay of the movie and should have taken advise from veterans like KRR, parucUri bros and last but not the least his mentor b.gOpal. once aftet the remake movie was released and the shooting of this movie resumed, the hero met with an accident as well as got involved in the unfortunate shooting incident. after getting the conditional bail, the makers had to compromise a lot and wrapped up the movie as fast as they could and released it. the crucial climax scene (changed it from the originally planned climax) and the lead scenes to the climax scene, the lead scene to the interval scene, the 3 duets and the much talked about patriotic song were picturised after the hero got bail. director had to depend a lot on graphics and special effects since the hero's fractured leg was not healed properly (you can see in the patriotic song and in some other scenes where he was literally dragging his foot).

first of all leaving aside the box office status of the movie and the outcome of the movie, the producer and director should be commended for completing and releasing the movie inspite of several hiccups during it's production. in an industry where sentiments take highest precedence, director subbarao and producer krishnam raju might have undergone lot of mental stress thinking about the future of the movie especially after a series of bad incidents to the hero of their movie starting with an injury during the production of the same movie. the story picked for the movie should have been directed by an experienced director and the hero should take the blame/get the credit for taking a new director to handle this subject.

irrespective of flops, Charmi managed to get good critic reviews... SA had 3+, Mass also 3+

MASS:
nagArjuna should be commended for giving a chance to a novice who doesn't have any prior experience in the direction department. with the success of this movie, nag has completed a hattrick as a producer with movies released in the month of december the last two with new directors with no prior directional skills. if it satyam was a break for the string of flops for sumant, this mass is a break for the string of flops for charmi . lawrence got good name for his direction and let's see how he fares in the future. |

M.S. rAju has taken guNaSEKar as the director inspite of delivering a debacle two years before in the name of mRgarAju and delivered a blockbuster. okkaDu's success was a sweet one for the director (after mRgarAju), hero (after bobby) and the producer (after nee snEham).
he repeated it again for pongal of 2004, this time by taking SObhan inspite of the director's blooper debut movie (bobby). the success of varsham should have given rAju more satisfaction than okkaDu. he released the movie in competetion with the movies of the current mass kings of tollywood and still came out victorious and also was able to deliver a first success for prabhas.
for 2005 pongal he is trying with a new director and a relatively new hero (who earlier appeared in a couple of dubbed movies in telugu). i guess he is repeating a heroine for the first time after vijayaSAnti and it is the first direct release of trisha after varsham (yuva was the earlier movie that was dubbed from tamil). let's see if the prodcuer is going to get a hattrick. |

let me come from the bottom of the list:
nA alluDu: producer is making this movie to compensate the buyers who lost money on the previous movie. producer and her should be appreciated for their efforts. instead of trying something novel, they are using the tested minimum guarantee theme which will always go well with the mass audience. to attract the class audience, it all depends on the director. if he could do even 25% of what his father-in-law has been doing for the past 25+ years, this movie will serve the purpose. |

I have posted this 3-4 days back. Looks like nobody was interested at that time. Trying again to get people's opinion.
Between Dec 15th and Jan 15th, 4 new directors are making their debut as directors with either big heroes or with big banners. Let's see how they fare.
1. Swarna Subbarao a long time associate/co director of B.Gopal made his debut with vijayEndra verma
2. Lawrnece a famous choreographer tried his hand at directing a movie with mass
3. Another famous choreographer/hero/character actor prabhudEva (mentor to lawrence in choreography) is trying his hand asa director with nuvvostananTe nEnoddanTAnA with siddArtha and trisha in the lead but the banner on which he is making has delivered 2 super hits for 2 pongals in a row and let's see if it is going to be a hat trick.
4. mullapUDi vara son of writer muLLapUDi venkaTa ramaNa and son-in-law of director bApu is going to make his debut as a director with nA alluDu.
Of these 2nd and 3rd movies had experienced producers where as for the first one it is a maiden venture for the producer as well. the producer of the last one is not new but not as experienced as the other two. let's see how these guys perform in the long run.
i think probably this is the first time in telugu film industry in the recent past that 4 new directors making debut with projects that are coming with either big heros or big banners.
