regd, new year celebration: i havent celebrated for 2 reasons:
~personally, i dont like to celebrate english new year. but will celebrate with friends as per their wish.
~our whole hostels have decided to cancel new year celebrations to show our sympathy towards the tsunami effected people.

i am personally averse to graphics...especially when a hero is regarded as one of the best for his fights and action sequences in the film industry, he does not need them annadi naa opinion, as a fan matrame suma.

I didn't understand fans problem with climax. whether they are expecting injured hero to bash up hundreds of goons and show the regular formula based heroism??
instead, here he showed hero sing his mind to counter the goons. thats seems apt to me and my friend. He tried a variety.

I watched Balu in VA today. I could not obtain the ticket for the friday show and hence had to go back today. Although the talk of the movie is not very positive, I was surprised to learn that crowds for both the shows (friday and saturday noon) have been great.
The story is known to many so I dont want to talk about it. Also, I dont want to spoil the party by disclosing the story to people who have not seen this movie.
Performances:
Pawan Kalyan
As soon as Pawan appears on screen, the whole auditorium erupted with whistles and cheers. Not surprising, since most of the crowd consisted of students and youth. You see two versions of Pawan Kalyan in this movie. A loud and energetic one in the first half and a demure one in the second half. In the first half, Pawan generated a very good comedy. His dialog delivery and facial expressions were controlled and great. The episodes with Sreya and Brahmanandam evoked maximum response from the audience. Looks like Pawan downplayed his usual boisterous self to a large extent and we get to see a Pawan of Tholiprema and Tammudu. In the second half, he portrayed the body language of a hit man with extreme ease. He let his emotions guide his performance in the second half. The director emphasized on eyes and expressions of Pawan, who used his expressive eyes to maximum perfection.
His costumes were very good and so were his dances. Normally Pawan is not known for dancing in commercial sets with group dancers around. The last time I saw him perform in this fashion was in "ammaye sannaga" in Kushi. Pawan danced with lots of ease in Balu. His movements in "Inthe inthinte" need a special mention and reminded me of Chiru's dances.
Others
Sreya was cute. I liked her in chudidaars. The scene where she ends up losing her visa to USA is extermely hillarious. The new heroine Neha was okay. Her characterization appears very genuine. Comedy legend, Brahmanandam was very good. Sunil was adequate. He however is becoming very redundant with the same kinds of dialogs and he should strongly consider a change in his style before he faces a career crisis. Everyone else did their job well.
Fights
After a very long time, we dont see Pawan's trademark fights in this movie. The fight in the first half was good however the climax fight was below average. An actor like Pawan Kalyan who is a specialist in fights and action sequences does not need graphics.

My rating for this movie is 3.5
Overall Comments:
Definete worth watch for Pawan Kalyan ! If the last 20 mins of the movie had been handled correctly, this movie would have become another blockbuster. In my opinion, it will end up as a good hit at the BO.
