i have another storyline. its a little more novel. Basicga pk is a super rich guy. He cares little for poor people and he's a typical villan. one day he's in college and one of the students challenge him to race. oka special sports car undala pawan ki. To win, PK actually has to hit a scooter. He does and the guy riding the scooter dies. Then, he goes to his funeral finds out about the financial burdens of a poor family. At that time, he sells his car and gives 20 lakhs to the family. INTERVAL BANG |

Mozu-abbai the track of hero "pretending to be a software engineer and selling blacktickets" has amazing scope for entertainment. And though, I have seen this in a tamil film (hero Vijay), it might have also come in telugu - but its FRESH, coz ee madhya (last 5-6 yrs lo) this line dint come up. Hero-heroine ki I will think of a stronger reason for bonding.. Manchi idea icchevu. THanks! |

this story is meant for pk.
basically hero is studying for a major exam. he asks a really smart girl to allow him to copy on the exam. She will be in dire need of money, so she asks him to pay 10,000. At this time, Indra releases. hero is a big chiru fan. He goes and starts selling black tickets for the whole week. the manner in which he obtains the tickets should be novel/comedic. he pays her the 10,000. he passes with 80+ on the exam. His parents now want him to get a job. but he knows he doesnt know any of this. So he starts a company. dresses up everymorning as if he is going to work as a software eingeneer. Meanwhile, he actually sells tickets in black. Makes hella lot of money. then one day, the police are after him. so he runs to a nearby beauty parlor. There, he meets heroine. she changes his appearence to look like a lady for 5-10 mins. this should also be comedy highlight. Then he gets back to this routine of acting as if he's going to office and then comes to the theater and sells black tickets. then his father suddenly has a medical problem and he needs a lot of money. At that time, he buys a lot of tickets for johnny and losses a lot of money. He then sits down to think and comes up wiht a idea to make a movie, since he knows the audience's taste. He becomes big with the movie and pays for his dad. Then he gets married to the heroine. it shuld be a short 2 hour movie. with 5 songs, 2 pk fights. |

j2ee - I recollected HUM. I remember seeing also, but I have seen long back, thats why not able to recollect. I got confused for Amir Khan's DIL and Amitabh's HUM.
Others - The current formats listed below are the most used (ABUSED rather). Anything other than this, is good enough.

11) 12B : Quentin Tarantino / Run Lola Run concept vaadi Jeeva (cinematographer) made a film, which is peppy and highly urbane. Though not highly complicated, you need to be a bit urbane to understand the film and appreciate the film. There is a point when the hero misses the bus to a crucial job interview. How his life would have been had he caught it, how it would have been had he missed it anedi cinema.
12) Tagore/Ramana : Can be included in the compilation “Bibles of Indian Cinema” itself. The idea itself is amazing. Shankar’s film Oke Okkadu can also be included, but it’s a flop in Bollywood. Those sad fcukers cant accept this kind of flick, but those who have seen this film – loved the idea.

arya medha padi yedavadam kakunda - manchi suggestion ivvu babai. OK accept - mee fave hero Prince Mahesh and Superstar Krishna are the greatest heros. Most of thier hits are BIBLES of telugu cinema. Chiru, PK are formula followers. Arya is just a decent film, no freshness.
Above all dont make any direct affect on my career. Now, give me a good storyline if you can |

As I told in my other thread, mana telugu cinema lo ‘popular formats’ ivvi :
Love story : hero will tease the heroine initially. She will hate him, but later it will turn into love. The parents wont accept their love, after which their struggle will begin. See most love stories, a major portion it will have this thread – Dil, Run, Idiot, Gangotri, Jayam, Nuvvu Nenu, Oka Raju Oka Rani, Lahiri Lahiri Lo (Aditya-Ankita pair). I don’t know what makes me feel so, I think Varsham is also a hotch-potch of many old love stories, ekkado freshness missing anipicchindi. Love stories lo there is a lot of scope for experimentation. Stories which broke away from this are – Badri, Chitram and Arya, Manasanta Nuvve.
Basha format : The hero is a big-shot who is a good guy, but commands fear. Due to some incident, he goes into hibernation and lives with another identity. Later, he will comeback to his real identity to seek revenge. Hero hiding his real identity and living in a new one is the key feature. Another routine feature of this track is one heroine for old-identity and one heroine for new one. The movies that were made on this format >> SSR, Narasimha Naidu, Indra, Adi, Chenna Kesava Reddy, Mass, Balu, Sambha.
Extra-marital affair format : Though not very popular, it was used for many films. The hero’s wife is portrayed as the ‘sati-savitri’ types, who the husband is bugged of. So, he decides to cheat – but realizes the value of his wife in the end. In some films, he sleeps with another woman other than his wife, in some he attempts but doesn’t.
Son-in-law v/s Mother-in-law format : though not as popular as the first two, this was a regular one in the 80s. The son-in-law marrying the lady villain’s daughter against her will and having a coldwar with her. Later, he will win over her with his wit and good deeds. Some variation can be used in this format, but not much. Ex : Alluda Majaka, Attaki Yamudu Ammaiki Mogudu, Allari Ramudu, Naa Alludu and other flicks.
Social revenge format : The least used, and most interesting format. I don’t think it can be “formatized” yet. There can be a lot of variation in this one, and needs tremendous knowledge and intellect to script this kind of film. The basic outline is “A personal tragedy affects the hero. Instead of taking revenge on the people who affected him, he attempts to change the system itself.
Some of the films I remember for their total unique storyline (against formulas) in last 5 years.
1) Badri : Renu desai planning the whole drama of making Pawan fall in love with Amisha, as she realizes she is not capable of giving birth to kids.
2) Itlu Sravani Subramanium : Two people deciding to end lives, and meet over suicide but survive. Their frequencies match instantly, and search for each other and finally meet.
3) Amma Nanna O Tamilammayi : inspired from Ram gopal verma’s real life. Even in title cards PJ thanks “someone special” but dint mention who it is. The concept of deserting one’s wife for profession and later son taking up having to live with dad, working in same profession is good.
4) Manasantha Nuve : Though later many films came up on the concept of “china nati snehitulu” MN was the first. The Swati magazine love story is the fresh idea in this film.
5) Murari : Excellent concept of a curse striking a family every 48 years, for a misdeed of the ancestor. Oka pranam poyyadaniki oka pranam bali teeyadam is totally justified since its devotion based.
6) Okkadu : Ee cinema gurinchi nenu pedda cheppakarledu. The whole concept will be fresh in your mind. A person who is totally out of the scene, being pull into a mess which he need not be a part of if the story’s highlight.
7) Kushi : Two lovers being born miles apart and college bring them close pedda fresh emi kadu, though its not routine. But they unwilling to propose to each other, and splitting due to their attitude problems is the highlight. Later, who they work with each other to unite their friends – makes it a winner. [tamil remake]
8) Vaali : The twin brothers concept is used for masala flicks like Rowdy Alludu etc., But the elder one who is physically disabled lusting for his brother’s wife is highlight. [tamil dubbed].
9) Rojapoolu : The idea of a guy falling unknowingly falling in love with his friend’s fiancée and later housing her is good. The justification which makes the film a winner is when the hero refuses to tell about his love in the last movement also and says, “If I tell her about my love, she will think I did all this bcoz I liked her and not because of the promise I gave to my friend.” Not a great storyline, but that justification had to be seen. [tamil dubbed].
10) Naa Autograph : [tamil-remake]. I missed it, but reviews sound interesting. I will watch it.
11) 12B : Quentin Tarantino / Run Lola Run concept vaadi Jeeva (cinematographer) made a film, which is peppy and highly urbane. Though not highly complicated, you need to be a bit urbane to understand the film and appreciate the film. There is a point when the hero misses the bus to a crucial job interview. How his life would have been had he caught it, how it would have been had he missed it anedi cinema.
12) Tagore/Ramana : Can be included in the compilation “Bibles of Indian Cinema” itself. The idea itself is amazing. Shankar’s film Oke Okkadu can also be included, but it’s a flop in Bollywood. Those sad fcukers cant accept this kind of flick, but those who have seen this film – loved the idea.
13) Chitram / Tulluvadi Ilumai : It was the first time that underage ppl falling in love was shown. Teen-pregnancy and how the couple handle it was shown excellently by the director. Totally new storyline. Thulluvadu Ilumai is a tamil film by 7g brundavan colony director, where kids run away from home.
14) Kadal Konden : One of the classics of South Indian cinema. The story of a mentally ill person falling in love with a girl is unique. Help chestunnatlu naticchi, kidnapping the girl is out-of-the-world and the girl not believing that she was kidnapped is the punch. The flashback is highly disturbing – not commercially good enough for telugu, but a masterpiece all-in-all.
15) Student No.1 : the idea of a law student getting arrested for breaking law, and he living upto his father’s dream of becoming a lawyer is good. Also, the climax of him arguing his own case, getting him out of his own difficulty, and proving that he will make a good lawyer is nice. Story paramga – freshness baaga undi. This is also somewhat close to “basha format”, but not fully.
I am not including 7B Brundavan Colony, as its not as gripping and the quote “Inspired from a real life incident” is totally fake. It was made up by the director, and the highlight scenes in the film made it a hit, rather than the whole story as such.
Other recommended flicks : Lagaan (you all know it). Aankhen (3 blind men rob a bank) & Taal (1999 release, the only exception). Hits like Veer-Zaara, Kal Ho Naho, Murder, Raaz, Gadar were entertaining but formula-ridden or were remakes of some Hollywood flicks. Not totally original ideas. Hum Tum is another good film, though the modification was good (especially the cartoon episode) its basically inspired from “When Harry Met Sally.”
Predictable, routine elements :
1) Patriotic muslim : When there is jingoism element in da film, some dialogues against muslims are thrown. Now to show, that not all muslims are anti-nationals and mainly that the film-maker is not against the community one character is kept – Though a muslim he is fiercely patriotic and proves over and over that he is not a Pakistani, but a Indian muslim.
2) Hero’s gang : The hero is a total awara. His typical gang is 1) Himself 2) One fat, chubby guy 3) One pervert or a ugly looker and two other friends.
3) Mimicy/imitation or spoofing of some famous personality and a highlight episode of a blockbuster film.
NOW, all the Creative ppl reading this thread – pls scratch your heads hard, think about this over and over and give me the suggestion.
Suggest me a TOTALLY NEW storyline, which is different from all written above. I have very good screenplay skills, but most stories I begin are formula-based and I drop them after completing nearly 40% as the same episodes and scenes I watch them on-screen in other movies. I don’t want Hollywood movie remake, but a real-life incident is fine. I have nothing against FORMULA films & I enjoy them too. But as a wannabe maker, I want to give my audience, something new, and prove that I have done something everyone can’t. I don’t want to make something “too HATKE” like Ram Gopal verma films, but something like inferior to that. I have a sound technical knowledge, but not as much as a few other ppl in this DB. Personally I have learnt music, and ppl around me say I have excellent music sense. Appatiki appudu, I make background scores for scenes – especially for love and action scenes. Storyline eh kotthaga undaali, adi na prime requirement. Don’t worry, I believe I can entertain my audience even in da weirdest of storyline, and if there are incomplete blanks, I will think about the justification. Love stories, entertainers preferred. I will very thankful to anyone who suggests me some good storyline. General suggestions too welcome.
