well then, boot the laptop with the XP prof cd and do the installation.
While installation, select clean install and you should see an option to erase / format the existing hard disk.

Deyyam mama,

>>Naa laptop lo windows xp home edition vundhi. I want to format the entire hard disk and install xp professional.

why? what is the reason for this?
Unless you are using it for development purpose, XP home is as good as XP Prof.

There may be a problem with the drivers if you install XP Prof from scratch.

Try upgrading to Prof with out a clean install.

If you want to format harddisk, you can do it while installing XP Prof. Put the Prof cd and boot. You'll see an option to erase and install.
