The HCA Secretary also informed that provision has been made to accommodate nearly 30,000 spectators for the Duleep Trophy match.
Chanti mama prastutaniki 30K strength anta.anni stands complete aithe it might go up to close to 40k to 50k..Better than LB Stadium mama which was around 17 to 20 K in strength.. |

Sachin was also spotted reading the pitch in the company of Ajit Agarkar and Zaheer Khan and is believed to have said that it was a bouncy track which would help bowlers on all days.
 Full Marks to Shivlal Yadav for making a Fast pitch and not Spinners pitch. |

‘Sachiiiin’, fans get back in action
Hyderabad, Feb. 20: Sachin Tendulkar was the star attraction as he batted, bowled and fielded — and played throwball — for the first time in weeks at the spanking new Visakha Stadium at Uppal. A handful of spectators had turned up at the stadium, and strained their vocal chords with the familiar “Sachiiiin, Sachin” chant. The star acknowledged the cheers and even took off his helmet to let them have a clear look at his face.
Off the field, the accommodation tangle seemed to be playing itself out. Indian stars from the West Zone decided to stay at Hotel Karan, a three-star affair, along with the rest of the team. Ajit Agarkar who flew in with Sachin stayed briefly at the se-nior star’s Taj Krishna room be-fore shifting to Karan.
Zaheer has already put up at the hotel, and Irfan Pathan joined him there. The South Zone team, with Rahul Dravid and Kumble will arrive in the city on Monday in two batches from Bangalore and Chennai. The entire South Zone team will be accommodated at a hotel on the city outskirts. An offer was made to shift the West Zone team to this hotel too, but they preferred Karan.

West and South zones prepare at Uppal Stadium

The West Zone and South Zone team gathered in Hyderabad have expressed their satisfaction with the facilities at the brand-new Uppal Cricket Stadium. There were three practice wickets for the teams to use, as the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) pulled out all the stops in a bid to convince those present that India's newest venue was ready to stage international cricket.
Speaking to The Hindu, Shivlal Yadav, the HCA secretary, said, "We have taken every precaution to ensure that there are no complaints. Floodlighting project is different and it should cost about Rs 6 crore [60 million]." The HCA has already spent Rs 22 crore on the stadium so far and another Rs 13 crore needs to be spent to finish off the clubhouse, swimming pool, and other recreational facilities.

The pitch is ready for Sachin Tendulkar's first match back after a tennis elbow problem, and even the commentary boxes are in mint condition even though there will be no telecast of the Duleep Trophy match. Nearly 30,000 spectatos are expected fo a match between the Pakistanis and India A at the end of March. |
