if u give a day time..i can list out my choices in ur range.. already done some reasearch on harmon kardon systems.. and bought one full fledged system for friend with lot of combinations.. HK 7.1 Digital reciever, JBL Woofers, Infinity center, book shelf and rear speakers. It costed us 1200 bucks.. (it came out very well)
if you tell ur range.. myself and friend can give our opinion at that price range.. lemme know if its ok. |

DVD player is not problem but selecting speakers is big one, I have to call axiom and ask them abt all options, I am thinking of going with Bose speakers and customize other stuff

Bose systems are always good except that they are over priced(atleast by $1000). The built in DVD player can only play region 1 (usa) discs ! Also it does not play DVD+R and DVD+RW discs. And moreover I beleive it is only a single disc DVD player !
So you will need another DVD player which plays any disc thrown into it ! Sad but true , such dvd players only cost $30 dollars !
I am not sure about the pricing of ELAN systems mama ! Moreover I haven't really experienced them . so cannot vouch for them !

problem with axiom is my house is prewrired initially for in-wall then at drywall i have changed and thought of regular bookshelf
Reciever: right now i have panasonic one but i am going to get either Harman Kardon or Onkyo or Yamaha 2-zone reciever
axiom is good for floor standing
I am looking for cube style(Boss), do you have any other suggestions.
SOny LCD 60 is rear projection but is very sleek
my decision is samsung 56 new on pedestal one but somebody told me sony was also good

I would prefer Samsung HL-P5085W to sony's KDF-60XBR950 even though it is only 50 inch !

I know Sony's largest LCD (liquid crystal display) is 42 inch,
must be refering to Sony's LCD Projection DLP. its commonly mistaken as LCD tv, actually it just has LCD panels..

Since it is a home theater I would go with a DLP as it has better color, Contrast and Image stability. It also has Better blacks and removal of the screen door effect . Check this link for a detailed explanation of screen door effect
