FYI....
Dear Colleague: You must have received information earlier that Indian Nationals with valid US visas also need to get a transit visa prior departure for airport transit through Germany. We have now received new information that this is NOT required until further notice because a special exemption has been made.
In other words Indian nationals with a valid US visa do not need to get an airport transit visa prior to departure and for airport transit through Germany. Although they may be issued a "visa on arrival" by German Immigration, no specific action is required from them to obtain an airport transit visa.
The German Consulate of New York lists the following exemption applicable for Indian Nationals in its website. "If you hold a) A residence title of a member state of the European Union or a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA, i.e. Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or b) A residence permit of Andorra, Japan, Canada, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland or the USA you do not need a transit visa c) Airport transit travelers who are holding a valid visa for the USA (an approval notice is not sufficient), Canada or Switzerland, are not obliged to obtain an airport transit visa prior to departure. Until further notice for these travelers a “visa on arrival” will be issued by the competent authorities at the respective airport in Germany and no specific action is required from them to obtain an airport transit visa. If you are still in doubt whether you need an airport transit visa, do not hesitate to call the German mission which serves your place of residence in the US."

Indian Nationals who do not have valid US visa will need to get a German Airport Transit visa. To apply for the transit visa, you can locate the German Consulate nearest to you by clicking on http://www.germany-info.org/relaunch/info/missions /consulates.html . You will have to apply directly with the nearest German Consulate in the US.
To check whether you need a transit visa for transiting any other country, please contact your airline / nearest consulate / embassy of that country in the US.
