I also read that ghantasala used to sing in marriages, temples, dramas before coming to movies.
And people think that ghantasala is from Vizianagaram but it is not. he is from krishna Dt. He went to Vizianagaram only to learn music. His music college principal was Dwaram venkataswamy naidu. ( famous Violinist ). In one concert I heard of Dwaram, he told this.. |

Now I remember the song. This movie was ghantasala's first movie where he got chance to sing a solo ( duet ).
I read somewhere that it was Samudrala Sr who encouraged Ghatasala to come into movies. He also let him to stay with him in Chennai.. If not Samudrala, there is no filmi ghantasala today. |

Regarding the question "what is the song in which Ghantasala - SPB sang togather" - Apart from Ekaveera and Manchi Mitrulu, SPB sang for the first time in the music direction of Ghantasala garu along with him, in the movie 'Alibaba 40 dongalu', ofcourse in the chorus. |

CJ mama on my 1st question I stand corrected..
I did some check and found that ghantasala acted Sitarama Jananam, in a small role and sang as chorus too in that movie, then he also acted Nagaiah's film - Thyagayya..
So Srivenkateswara mahatyam was not the first movie.. |

combination. To the best of my knowledge,

i dont remember fully but i am certain that the title song devudu chesina manushullara was sung only by ghantasala picturized on NTR. i dont think that will qualify for the Q which you asked where ghantasala-spb sang together a sang. it will qualify where they both sang in a movie for different songs.

Yes he was jailed in 1942 for singing patriotic songs and removing rail lines. he was in jail for 18 months.
Great thing is that jailers falicitated ghantasala on his release |
