Story : The tit-for-tat revenge stories are not something new in Tollywood, but when presented differently, with some good logic behind it does impress. Dharmiah Naidu (Vijay Kumar) enthuses the value of education into his son Sambha (NTR) as he had lost his wife as he was uneducated, and couldn’t save her when in a dire situation. So, they use the granite quarry they own to fund many educational institutions. But NTR’s brother-in-law forces his wife to give in the quarry as dowry, and the family is forced to give. Unable to take it, his sister commits suicide, but the real reason behind this move of hers is not known to Sambha. One knowing whose behind his sister’s death Sambha takes over the quarry and kills Prakash Raj’s brother in a duel. Prakash Raj avenges the death of his brothers by killing all of NTR’s family including his niece – Bhumika. The AP State Police then bans Prakash Raj and NTR from entering the state for a period of one year. While Prakash Raj cools his heals in Amritsar, Sambha settles down in Kanchi as a saree merchant and educates the poor there. This is where he encounters the medical student Genelia, who beings romancing with him, after their relation strengthens. After the completion of ‘vana vaas’ NTR, Prakash Raj returns to their home turf to seek revenge and start serving the educational institutes once again.

Performances : NTR suited the role of 22-going-60 Sambasiva Naidu well. Like his performance graph, his weight graph also seems to be on the rise, Watch it mate! Dances and fights come naturally to him, and this film is just another instance where he shows that he is damn good at it.Genelia looks petite, but nevertheless sexy too. A few costumes and sarees dint jell well with her uptown, bubbly girl look, but that’s ok as its not a major issue. Bhoomika’s role is only a cameo, looks good and does well too. Such roles are nothing new for Prakash Raj, and he excels once again. The surprise package is ‘Sitara’ who too has done a good job. Krishna Bhagwan, Venu Madhav generated some decent comedy.

Technical Departments : The story provided by G.S Rao is same old hat, but was well presented thanks to the director. Kona Venkat’s dialogues which are powerful, thought-provoking and funny are a major asset to the film.

NTR to Bhumika : 12 gantalaki peratiloki vaccheyi, kanicheddam. Pypaina chooskundam
NTR : Naa mundu thoda kodithe, Thoda-meda rendu narikestha.
NTR : Oka koteswarudu 100 mandi koteswarulani tayyaru cheyyaledu kaani, oka chaduvukunna vaadu, 100 mandi chaduvukunna vallani tayyaru cheyyagaladu.

Ravindra Babu’s cinematography was alright, so was the music by Mani Sharma. Though the background score was good, the music is a let down, like most of Vinayak’s films. There is no clue who is to be blamed, as Mani’s quality too is deteriorating these days. Prabhudeva, Lawrence, Rajashekar’s choregraphy lent good support for the mass songs, and only add to the film’s success. As a director, V.V Vinayak had done a good job one must say. He inserted a lot of commercial elements in a run-of-the-mill story and presented the whole film in such a way, it doesn’t fall short of expectations. Anyways, he should have concentrated more on entertaining the audience by having better comedy scenes, and avoiding a few ‘screenplay lags’ here and there. He has a good grip over the taste of the masses, and hence inserted a lot of fights, Sumo-blasts.. Oops Safari-blasts like his earlier factionist films. The production values of Kodali Naani are also good, and looks like his sentiment of producing NTR’s 9th film worked out.

Analysis : The first of the film just keeps ticking like that, without much excitement. Its sprinkled with entertainment here and there to keep us glued to the seats. The screenplay should have been more riveting in the first half. The second half of the film is good. And like Vinayak’s other films, the “last 40 minutes” is the savior of the film as it has power-packed dialogues, action scenes much to the liking of the masses. But truly, there should have been lesser bloodshed in the film. The film solves it purpose as it was made targeting NTR’s fans and mass audience. Now NTR is back in form with a hit, and Vinayak completes his hat-trick (Dhil, Tagore, Sambha). Even if the film of big stars start off with an average talk, they turn out to be hits in the long run, so the range of the film will be good as it started off with a ‘hit talk’ straight away. Since the producer is NTR’s uncle and PR agent – Kodali Naani, the film should definitely get the much required records, the hero is aiming at.
