Fanaticism on language has been taking deeper roots in Tamil Nadu from many years. Efforts to make the usage of Tamil rampant were included from projecting Tamil numbers on buses and trams to translating Vedic chants to Tamil. In fact while the former sounds fanatic the latter sounds lunatic. However, Kamal Hassan commented on the obsession of Tamil leaders on regional language in Hyderabad today (06/04). He said, “If the type of leaders those were in Tamil Nadu were also present here, they would have forced to change the title of Sri Sri’s ‘Mahaprasthanam’, as that’s sounding Sanskrit”. Indeed, Kamal was very much influenced by ‘Mahaprasthanam’ while he was working for Aakali Rajyam in later 70s.
