True, I know of no other film personality who garnered so much goodwill. Yash and Hiroo Johar are by far the most popular couple in Bollywood.
Everyone from Amitabh Bachchan to Preity Zinta adored them, so much so that the Bachchan couple felt insulted when Karan offered to pay them for "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham".
"Charge money from Yashji, never!" Bachchan was adamant.

Personally I too did not like this Karan johar and SRK combination. One of the bokest over action I see in the movies right from SRK to other cast. Also some how I hate the pseudo culture they show in movies which is really hypocratic.... Ala ani mana telugu movies lo kuda choopu taaru... kaani ikkada antha anipincha ledu..
Ide vishayam maa roomies ayina northies tho ante.... okadu personal ki velli poyi naa meedhaku rechadu...saying you southies hate hindi and hindi movies and commented on telugu movies..
Vaadiki G pagile lesson ichi, K... muyyamanna, nee yebba deeniki daaniki link enti ani...

My deep condolences to him.
Last time I saw him in a awards function in Dubai telecasted in Zee US. He got life time award and he is mentioning that he will serve the industry until last breath. Said he attributed the success to the each and every one who worked with including lightmen.
