here is telugucinema.com review... Movies : Movie Reviews -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Narasimhudu - Movie Review By jalapathy jala_pathy@yahoo.com May 20, 2005, 13:14 Sri Satyanarayanamma Productions Narasimhudu 2005 Cast : N.T.Rama Rao, Ameesha Patel, Sameera Reddy, Arti Agarwal, Brahmanandam, Chalapathi Rao, Dharamavarapu Subramanyam, Ali, Puneet Insar, Kalabhavan Mani, Nazar, Jayaprakash Reddy, Ashih vidhyarthi, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Narra Venkateshwaa Rao, Jeevi, Rahul Dev, Krishna Bhagavan, Tanikella Bharani, Rallapalli, Srinivas Reddy, Rajesh Story: P.Ravi Shankar Dialogues : Parachuri Bros Lyrics: Veturi Sundararamamurthy, Bhuvanachandra, Vennelakanthi Art: Anand sai Music: Manisharma Camera : K.Ravindra babu Editing: Kotagiri Gopal Rao Fights: Vijay Producer: Chengala Venkat Rao Direction : B.Gopal Release Date : 20th May 2005 (In Twin Cities) NTR has done enough and more action films. Actually he has trapped in that image and has been trying to come out of it. But unfortunately, in Narasinhudu too he goes for the same kind of masala film. The film is nothing but an attempt to put old wine in new bottle. With inane story, dragging narration, illogical scenes, it even fails to impress his hardcore fans. The basic fault lies in the selection of story and weak screenplay. The film is written by Ravishanker who directed Durgi, a Kannada film starring Malasri in title role. He has just changed that original to suit NTR’s image but alas what he dished out looks like Srihari starrer Ganapathi, a futile revenge drama. Srihari’s Ganapathi has same kind of theme but relationships to the protagonists have been changed in this film. In the first half hero NTR pretends as a dumb guy and goes on rampage and the second half reveals his identity. Story The film starts off with hero coming to city on a mission. He starts killing Phani (GV), Mani (Rahul Dev) – sons of Amberpet Poturaju (Kalabhavan Mani) and JD (Puneet Issar) respectively. When the police commissioner (Ashish Vidhyarthi) finds out that it is the hero, who is behind the killings, hero reveals his flash back. Hero who till then pretends dumb guy tells that he is Kondaveeti Narasinhudu, whose sister like girl (a 11 year old girl) was brutally raped and killed by Phani and Mani. JD and Poturaju and others attempt to murder Narasinhudu to hush off the killings. The rest of the film is about hero taking revenge on villains who kill the girl and her father. Analysis Narasinhudu has nothing special as such in terms of story but one expected interesting narration. The film though is remake of Kannada film, Durgi, such kind of films have come umpteen in the past. It is an outdated story. In the very recent past, Srihari had done similar film, Ganapathi, four years back. In Ganapathi, Srihari’s pregnant wife and father are being killed and hero sets off for taking revenge. Hero NTR not uttering a single word in the entire first half and telling his name at the interval bang is not that good. Because any lay audience can guess that hero has a flashback from the first scene itself. The first half is okay, it has some entertaining moments with sexy Sameera Reddy, though they are vulgar in nature. Then goes haywire leaving many situations to your imagination. The film’s bad narration, lengthy drama (it is almost 3 hours film) and bad editing work (by Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao) have killed the film. The entertaining scenes in the film are love track between NTR, Amisha and NTR and Sameera Reddy. Brahamanadam’s entire comedy track is cheap and vulgar, though it evokes laughter for mass audiences. As hero there is no second word about NTR’s performance – he is at his best with tough looks, mass dialogues, and good dances. He excels in the role but his role lacks the logic and impact. It sad to see NTR, who has such a huge following, failing to select good stories. He needs to immediately change his ‘story department’ Sameera Reddy has good figure and right oomph to please the audiences. She has done good job in her role as Phalgat Milk Papa (The name itself is massy and double entendre). Amisha Patel has not much to do in the film. As the villain, Kalabhavan Mani steals the show. The rest of the cast has done okay job. Dialogues by Parachoori Brothers are out of sync with the character. The much hyped 2 minute breathless dialogue by NTR is astounding for hears but lacks punch because the scene has no such requirement. B Gopal has shown his touch in track between hero and heroes. Storywriter Ravishanker is the villain of the film. Camera work is standard. JP’s Verdict: NTR disappoints his fans too. I strongly advise week hearted and sensitive people not to waste their money on this film. For action lovers and masala watcher may like it. |

>>>There is a lengthy dialogue immediately after the interval block. It defies the logic of any literate mass audience. NTR, who plays the illiterate rural youth, has to render the lengthy dialogue much to the jocular vein, though it is rendered in the serious tone.<<< idhena 2 min. dialogue andharu super anni antunaaru...maree FC enti picchi boothulu thituthunaadu... |

it looks like another flop from jr...aiyina B. gopal ki flashback+revenge killing movies thappithe inka emi raava... Rating 5/10 Banner Satyanarayanamma Productions Cast NTR, Amisha Patel, Sameera Reddy, Aarthi Agarwal, Brahmanandam, Chalapati Rao, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Ali, Puneeth Insar, Kalabhavan Mani, Ponnambhalam, Nazar, Asish Vidyarthi, Kaikala Satyanarayanaryana, GV, Rahul Dev, Krishna Bhagwan, Jayaprakash Reddy, Tannikela Bharani, Narra Venkateswara Rao, Rallapalli, Rajesh and others Lyrics Veturi, Bhuvana Chandra, Vennelakanti Music Mani Sharma Dialogues Paruchuri Brothers Stunts Vijay Cinematography K. Ravindra Babu Producer Chengala Venkat Rao Story P. Ravi Shanker Screenplay&Direction B. Gopal Released Date May 20th, 2005 (1st show) Links Muhurat Gallery Audio Function Movie Stills Theatres List Synopsis: Narasimhudu (NTR) loses his parents when they try to seal the breach to a local tank at Kondaveedu in Krishna district. The boy becomes the much-loved faster child of the entire village. There are 365 families in the village and all of them want Narasimhudu to be their God-sent child. One unfortunate evening, an 11-year-old girl and her grandfather (Kaikala Satyanarayana) is raped by two influential youth. Narasimhudu reacts like Lord Narasimha. As a result of which, he annihilates the two guys who had raped the village girl (his sister) and also the main villains - the father and brother of the culprits. Watch the vengeance filled drama for yourself – but with a feeling of disappointment. Performance NTR comes out with a full-fledged revenge action in this movie. He had surpassed his own action in his previous movies – Adi and Simhadri. But, the storyline of “:Narasimhudu” badly dampened the spirit of his histrionics. His superb acting did not match with the mood of the story, screenplay and direction. Amisha Patel who played the main fiddle to NTR lacks the luster of nativity. Definitely she looks elder to NTR. Her hip shakes and delicate body language might serve as a saving grace. To cut the ice, Amisha Patel is not the right choice besides NTR. Sameera Reddy has some flesh to lure the mass audience. Her characterization as Kerala Kutti lacks nativity. Her appearance always exposing her navel brings forth an artificial production set-like atmosphere. She is out and out engaged in hectic pelvic movements all through her role (particularly in dance sequences). Though she showed extraordinary ease in body language, yet she disappoints the crowds with a bulgy figure. Kalabhavan Mani and Punit Issar played the main villains. You have two powerful villains in this movie. They play the friends turned deadly enemies. GV acted as the brother to Kalabhavan Mani; and Rahul Dev as brother to Punit Issar. Chalapati Rao plays an important role (sacrificial one) that further enhances the responsibility of the hero. Asish Vidyarthi, of course for the first time, plays a positive role as a police officer, who supports the hero while he is all out to kill his enemies. It is more or less akin to the role of Prakash Raj in “Nijam”. Manorama played an interesting character as foster grandmother of NTR. Kaikala Satyanarayana played the role of the faster-grandfather to NTR. Dharmavarapu played the role of an MRO and father to heroine Amisha Patel. Brahmanandam, Rajesh, Ali and Babloo played the comedian roles; and did their best. All the other characters have come out well with their histrionics in their limits. Technical Details Story: It seems to be a tailor-made one for NTR. It utterly lacks freshness and from the interval block, everything is predictable. Direction by B. Gopal is mediocre. It is entirely traditional and old-fashioned that utterly disappoints the mass and young audiences. Drawbacks of B. Gopal: The first half is heavily loaded with curiosity and expectation. But the same factors fail to live up to the expectations of the audience in the second half. Treatment of the story from the interval lacks freshness. Even an illiterate could easily gauze the situation. This results in the ruthless killing of the audience involvement in the screenplay. The songs are badly misplaced. The blasting of Sumos in a particular moment comes as a mere joke, though B. Gopal intended it seriously. Dialogues: Paruchuri Brothers have not satisfied the mass audience. NTR for the first time speaks second before the Interval. In fact, the dialogues are not impressive. There is a lengthy dialogue immediately after the interval block. It defies the logic of any literate mass audience. NTR, who plays the illiterate rural youth, has to render the lengthy dialogue much to the jocular vein, though it is rendered in the serious tone. Music: Music by Mani Sharma comes as an asset to the movie. The songs range from good to average. The profuse pelvic shakes of Sameera Reddy could not impress the audience. Similarly, the delicate physical expose of Amisha Patel failed to enliven the mass mood in the theatre. The climax song and music are somehow interesting, but it comes as a pure copy to NTR's own performance in “Simhadri”. Stunts: Stunts department requires some appreciation. They are neither good nor extraordinary. But there is something special. You have an impressive tug of war between the two villains (Khala Bhavan Mani and Puneet Issar). There is absolute relief in this department as the hero too directly hits at the targets – much to the expectations of the common audiences. Comedy is just average. Brahmanandam's role comes as a disappointing one as all the sequences in which he gets involved are a commonplace subject. FC Verdict: Producer Chengala Venkat Rao's advertisement that the movie would run for 100 days in 202 centers would never happen unless he spends from his pocket. The movie is opened to an average to even non-performer talk much to the disappointment of the fans. |
