Movie Review - Andarivaadu Rating 6/10 Banner Geetha Arts Cast Chiranjeevi (dual role), Rimmi Sen, Tabu, Rakshita, Prakash Raj, Satyanarayana, Chandra Mohan, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Bikshu Yadav, MS Narayana, Dharmavarapu, Krishna Bhagwan and others Story Bhupati Raja Music Devi Sri Prasad Dialogues Kona Venkat Cinematography Kabir Lal Editing Marthand K Venkatesh Art Ashok Producer Allu Arvind Screenplay & Direction Sreenu Vytla Released Date June 4th, 2005 Links Muhurat Andarivaadu Stills Stills Audio Function Abroad Schedules Theatres List Synopsis Govindarajulu (Chiranjeevi) settles as a street fighter-cum-mesthri (head of laborers) in Hyderabad . His son is Sidhhu (Chiranjeevi), who works as a popular TV anchor-cum-reporter. The father is a carefree guy, but a goodhearted man who fights for his people (laborers). He drinks, smokes and flirts with girls. In order to set right Govindarajulu, the son and his babai (Satyanarayana) get him married to a homely lady (Tabu). Coming as a twist, Sidhhu exposes the misdeeds of a greedy contractor Bikshu Yadav. As a result of this, he looses a public works contract worth Rs 50 crore. Both are engaged in rivalry. The contract goes to another contractor Veerendra (Prakash Raj), who happens to be the friend of Govindarajulu. Meanwhile, Veerendra agrees to take Siddhu as his son-law, on condition that he should cut all his blood-relations. Govindarajulu with a heavy heart quarrels with his son deliberately (just to see that he is married to his friend's daughter). However, Siddhu comes to know that his dad Govindarajulu is an extraordinary father of him. (Govindarajulu, after the death of his first wife, had brought up Siddhu with all love and affection; worked in quarries and did all heavy odd jobs to bring up his son with decent education). Now, Siddhu rejects to marry Swetha and hugs his father to heart. Naturally, Swetha is out with a vile plan to separate father and son. Another twist with the re-bang of Bikshu Yadav, who takes Swetha as hostage to settle scores with Prakash Raj. In turn, Prakash Raj seeks the help of Govindarajulu to rescue his daughter. The climax is all how the girl is rescued much to her repentance and happy union with Siddhu. Performance Chiranjeevi in his dual role as father Govindarajulu and son Siddhu dominates the screen from start to finish. You can well say its one-man show in two shades. Chiru could exhibit superb contrast in his mass and class roles simultaneously. However, the absence of any special steps for Chiru; and also the missing of powerful dialogues come as a minus point, which disappoints the fans. The costumes worn by Father Chiru look a little bit odd. Except for a lone fight in the beginning, the stunts department has not come out well to suit Chiru's stamina. However, the father Chiru evokes much sympathy in certain emotional scenes. Chiranjeevi as son Sidhhu is overpowered by father Govindarajulu. His role requesting the father to shun bad habits like drinking and smoking comes a regular feature. Tabu is a nice choice for Chiru (father), while Rimmi Sen got some acting apart from the regular screen-glam role. Her role too comes as a routine stuff – to separate father and son! Rakshita comes dancing with Chiru in a couple of songs. Bikshu Yadav, though played a nice villainy, is wasted all along the movie but for his climax come back. After a long time, Prakash Raj is seen playing in Chiru movie. His performance is all expected by the audience. He loves the status and not the friendship. Satyanarayana played the babai to Siddhu (son Chiru). Sunil played the role of Rimmi Sen's brother. A greedy brother, who loves money, hands over his sister to the villain. The comedy department is supported by MSN, Dharmavarapu and Krishna Bhagwan. Technical Details Story by Bhupati Raja has no special appeal when it comes to the fact that it is for Mega Star Chiranjeevi. Screenplay and Direction by Seenu Vytla is careless. The first half is nice leaving the audience with a hope that there would be something in the second half. But, he disappoints them as the second half is taken in a reckless manner. His direction shows - If the movie is claimed to be a comedy, it is not justified. Similarly, when you look for any message, you fail yourself. Dialogues by Kona Venkat are ordinary. Music by Devi Sri Prasad upsets the audience. But for a couple of songs, his fare gradually is lost. The background score is average. The stunts department clearly misses the game. The climax stunts shot and the graphics come as a ridiculous stuff. To note here, all through the length of the sequence, it shown that the train would be passing over the bridge, this shows a clear lapse of time. Cinematography by Kabir Lal is nice. The comedy is neither outstanding nor poor. But there is a particular scene (running upto 5 minutes) showing Chiru riding a motorcycle while tense Sunil pleading with him to go slow. This comes as a cheap strategy to evoke comedy, which miserably fails. FC Verdict: The movie is opened to an average talk. First Half is good, while the second half takes a nosedive. |
