Balayya Special: What Balayya will do now? In true filmi style, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna has come out unscathed (albeit with an injured index finger) and is now redrawing plans to return to the arclights, dancing with scantily dressed women and explosive dialogues "Katti to kaadu ra kanti chooputo champesta (Not with a knife, I will kill you with a mere look)." The changed plan may include canning of the jinxed Nartanasala which Balakrishna planned to direct. First he had trouble with producer Bellamkonda Suresh who backed out, next it was Soundarya's death in a tragic plane crash. And now, a near-tryst with prison bars. The focus is on his pending films and of course his career in future. One of Balakrishna's projects with Aditya Productions, started one year ago, has been halted twice so far. Once when the actor broke his leg and again when he fired at two producers. Worried producer Konda Krishnamaraju is in a rush to announce the title of the film and complete the remaining portion (climax and three songs). The title is expected to be announced on July 4 and shooting will commence on July 22. The film co-stars Laya and Ankitaa. As per the conditional bail, Balakrishna must not step outside the twin cities and register his presence with the Jubilee Hills police station every alternate day. This would mean no rushing off to foreign locales for song shoots. Earlier, when a Balakrishna film was ready for release, buyers would scramble for exhibition rights but the changed scenario may mean a sticky situation for producer Konda Krishnamaraju. The actor's directorial debut venture, Nartanasala, too hangs in balance. This movie was planned when Lakshmi Narasimha was being made. Bellamkonda Suresh and Lakshmipati Raju, both producers of Lakshmi Narasimha told Balakrishna they'd produce Nartanasala. But Bellamkonda backed out following poor collections for Lakshmi Narasimha. But Balakrishna decided to go ahead with Nartanasala. Soundarya's death was the first blow to the project preceding the actor's fracture. On June 2, Balakrishna held a press meet to announce that he was fit and would restart Nartanasala after completing the Aditya Productions film. The same day, Balakrishna called S Gopal Reddy, an old friend and producer who has made Mangamagari Manavadu, Muddulu Mavaiyya etc with the former. The actor told Reddy that he wished to revive a project under the Bhargava Arts banner with him. Reddy had spent Rs 5 crore on the said film which was stalled due to differences between Balakrishna and Reddy. On June 3, Balakrishna fired at Bellamkonda Suresh and Satyanarayana Chowdary injuring them critically. Gopal Reddy later revealed that it was Satyanarayana Chowdary who was the cause behind his differences with Balakrishna. Once these films are dealt with, one wonders whether Balakrishna will be signing any new films. Some sources say that actresses will have second thoughts before pairing up with Balakrishna. And the negative publicity may also prevent film-makers from offering him fresh roles. Of course, there was the dramatic announcement by Bellamkonda Suresh that he would make a film with Balayya but it remains to be seen if words translate into action. right 2003.
