They have put up about 175 hoardings in Chennai alone. People expect a great deal from 'Anniyan.' The film got released yesterday. So, what's the reaction from the public? We did a little survey.

First stop was Kasi theatre. Looked like a crowd at an Amman temple festival. Buses were crawling along in the traffic jam. A huge hoarding on the theatre front had one of a young Vikram next to it. Pushing our way through the crowd, we could barely make it to the theatre gates. We spoke to a fan who was biting his nails in tension.

"Didn't you get a ticket?"

"I got it long back."

"Have any extra?"

"Gimme a break. With great effort we made a star, but they said we can't put it anywhere," he said with irritation.

Only then did we notice the mega size stars outside the theatre walls, each decorated with 'Anniyan' pictures.

"What happened, boss?" we asked him, sympathizing in his melancholy and out came his grievances

Hailing from west Saidapet, this ardent Vikram fan had made 3 stars along with his friends. Being a little late, he did not find place to keep his star in the theater, hence his tension.

As far as we could see, tickets were being sold in black for about Rs.250. The situation was more or less the same in Rohini complex. But the most affected were Sangam and the Sathyam complex. There were as many cars as people creating a terrible traffic jam.

People coming for night show, parked their cars in Poonamallee road. To move about 500 metres to Sangam theatre, we took 35 minutes in our vehicle.

How was the film?

"Super, what a film," "No need for Sada," "Somewhat like 'Indian,'" "Second half is a bit slow," "Fabulous songs and fights," were some of the comments we heard.

Whatever be the case, yesterday it was a festive atmosphere at the theatres showing 'Anniyan
