aparichitudu recording more records

It is like Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara batting together. The Vikram-Shankar combination is
bringing down all the records.

After getting a historic high of a cent per cent opening every where, Anniyan has managed to dislodge Chandramukhi from the top grosser of the week list.

Chandramukhi, since its release on April 14 last, has been having unrivaled run. To be sure, Chandramukhi has still many takers.

But it is Anniyan that is at the top of the heap.

On a week, when Sensex has touched historic highs, Anniyan has showed that it is no slouch either.

Trade pundits confirm that Anniyan is well and truly on its way to becoming one of the biggest hits of all time.

(This is Box-office Report for the month of June, 2005)

Years of hard work and patience are finally giving fruitful results to hero Vikram. He struggled for many years as hero ((9 Nelalu, etc.) and did villain roles for livelihood (in Ooha) but that elusive successive never came. And finally his relentless efforts in Tamilnadu made him star thanks to director Bala with Sethu. And after five years of its release, he has finally able to get a hold in Telugu too with his Aparachitudu’s stupendous success.

Ace filmmaker Shanker directed Aparachitudu had seen grand release last week in Andhra Pradesh too. Although his Shivaputrudu became a hit, Vikram was not considered as hot property in Telugu as other Tamil superstars like Rajanikant and Kamal Haasan till now. Surprising everyone, Aparachitudu had seen splendid openings almost like a Telugu top hero. And in A centers like Hyderabad, Vizag, Vizayawada, Warangal, and Tirupathi it is running to packed houses and black ticket sellers are having field day.

Trade pundits estimate the Telugu version will reap in good profits for producer Subrayamanyam of Laxmi Ganapathi films. He bought the Telugu rights for a whopping amount of Rs 9 Crores. He will easily get that amount now.

Vikram is now very Suparachitudu (Well-known person) to everyone in Andhra Pradesh.

But it remains to be seen whether the film would have long run or not?

Andarivaadu – disaster

Rubbing salt to wounded injuries, Aparachitudu’s success left Chiranjeevi’s Andarivaadu with virtually no takers from audiences. The film was already a declared flop by the trade. It was big flop for Megastar Chiranjeevi who has been riding high on with consecutive successes. The film’s failure was known in the very first day as the fans of the star themselves declared that it would not run.

Despite ‘negative talk’ Andarivaadu did good business in the first week of its release. And in the second week it had attracted 60% of audiences and soon it stooped to almost 10%.

Bhadra’s fluctuations

This is one film that defied the trend in the recent times. Contrary to expectations of trade pundits and despite receiving negative reviews and talk, Raviteja’s Bhadra had good run for three weeks. Its first week share was almost a record. When the trade circles started rallying around the film, its collections have suddenly dropped. Now, the film has very poor patronage from the audiences. Nevertheless, it is considered hit.

Kalyanram’s Atanokkade is doing okay business and other films that were released last fortnight sank without trace.

Kadante..means No?

Prior to the release, trade was positive with the small budgeted film, Kadante Aunanile, as the producer Koganti Ramakrishna made a grand statement that he would not produce any other film if it fails. Sadly, audiences gave the film a total thumbs down. Well, will he stop doing films forever? It remains to be seen.

Other films that were released at the same time – Valayam, Meghamala O Pellam Gola, had the same result.
