Cool_phani,
1) The rule is by the time the light turns red, you should be beyond (or at) the intersection. That's how the red light cameras work.
2) If the light turned red by the time your friend is after the stop-line and before the intersection, then the cop is right, if not, she is.
If your friend's case is 1) and the cop is saying otherwise, then, its his word against your friend's - which is tough to fight.
My sincere suggestion - ask your friend to show up for the case. You never know, the cop may not show up and your friend will be cleared 100%. |

CP, usually the rule is,
even if u have a green light, you should only cross the signal, if u know that u can completely cross the intersection without blocking the road by stopping in the middle.
another thing is you should never change lanes when crossing an intersection.
so, if u r cousin has crossed the signal when it is green, then there is every possibility for her to cross the intersection before red.
ask her if there were any witnesses.
otherwise, the best is to plead guilty, which gets her a ticket which can be waived for community service.
Its better not to drag such stuff in courts. |

if u cousin is a student then she can plead saying i don't have money to pay but can do some community service to oldies.
cops usually discriminate (strange but 200% true). ur cousin can't do much in this case frankly.
beg borrow and steal annaru peddalu. so go for the first option.
i would do the same. |
