Naa Oopiri, an honest and novel effort by debutant director Kanmani, has emerged as the winner, finally. A film starring Vadde Naveen is treated as an anathema by the trade. But Kanmani’s guts to make a film with him and that too making a psycho-thriller have paid rich dividends. Happy with the result, the producers have decided to add more prints. Another 25 new prints will be added from July 15th.
Though Vadde Naveen has not done anything to promote this film, the hapless producers and director have relied on the media and ‘mouth publicity’ to succeed. The film’s success proves once again that audience will always lap up any novel film, not mindless ‘thrillers’.
