I agree that production values of telugu films is extremely poor...but I don't agree when u say bollywood is better. The only thing is hindi films look rich...but most of the times looks out of place..(KKHH..DTPH..Mohabbatein..Muj se Dosti Korege..just a few). |

Style tappa substance yemi ledu ani bollywood ni alaa teesi paareyadu...ddlj,dch,lakshya,rangeela are certainly not lacking in substance inspite of the emphasis on the 'cool factor'. then u have black,parineeta,etc ..if u r talking about the entire look of the film, telugu films lo production values chaala poor...deeniki kaaranam the concept of 'production designer' has not caught up with telugu films the way it has in Hindi and tamil ..Production design must cinema ki. A production designer brings the same difference that an architect brings to a house. directly oka mestry leka civil engineer to construct cheyinchina house ki oka architect design and supervision to construct chesina house ki chaala difference untundi.The architect brings in an element of design that a civil engineer does not. That is the reason why we are lacking in production values inspite of the massive budgets.manchi production values ki pedda budgets avasaram ledu. Jism laanti low budget chetta cinema had excellent production values.
I thought Johnny had style but it was so low on substance ... I wish PK makes a Johnny-2 - a similar set up, similar background but with a solid story - maybe a tailored million dollar baby.  |

Hello guru - I accept that Bollywood is ahead in style, but never in substance. So many of Bollywood blockbsuters are remake of telugu films and many more are remakes of South Indian films.
Though, telugu movies are primarily watched only in Andhra Pradesh, they have market upto 75% that of Bollywood which are watched India-wide and has a world market.
As a next-generation Tollywood wannabe, its my aim and goal to make our cinema popular on a national scale, and makes cinema observers abroad notice that in India, there is a parallel movie market called "telugu cinema". Also, see in the next 10 years or so, most of Bollywood's technicians would comes from the South, which AP contributing to it majorly. The trend has already begun, it you notice. Most of the top technicans are from the Southern film industry. We just started making our in-roads and overcoming the language barrier. Soon, we will have telugu heroes and producers (already few are ther) in Bollywood.
Our films cannot be overly stylish because the masses themselves are not open to it. Our film-makers are defenitely capable of making slick movies, and we have a market to support movie of 3-3.5 million dollars budget. Cinema is a vehicle for social change, especially in a state like ours. So, with our film makers making movies like Super etc., our people will slowly open upto such films, though intially them might not accept it with open arms. Telugu cinema is defenitely the "sun shine industry" of indian cinema. Look at our trade statistics and success rate.
While criticism is accepted on telugu cinema, no way I would like to see anyone putting it down..

No wonder when movie makers chur out same old pot-boilers but with different faces and try rub it on the audience get outrightly rejected.
I have been religiously following Bollywood movies for few years now and surprisgly they're miles ahead of us both in style and substance.
Hoping for Tollywood to wake up before it's too late and come up with one hell of a stylish movie irrespective of how it does at the Box-Office.
