Yeah I watched the directors cut too.. it is far better than the theatrical version. I wonder why they chose not to go with the directors version. Many of the edited scenes really made a lot of sense in his version.
I would suggest the directors cut to those planning to watch the movie. It all seems a bit confusing in the beginning but the movie on the whole is very imaginative.
I also did not expect Ashton Kutcher to come up with such a good performance  On the whole a good movie

I failed to connect this part to the conversation the mom has with ashton after the meeting with the oracle. makes sense..apparently the director put in a lot of effort both in the story as well as screenplay...with all the different times lines he had to handle...he made a very good job of it.

The "Director Cut" version is very good, when compared to the theatrical version. I have seen both version and the diretors version is atleast 15 minutes longer and is much more explanative.
It is very hard to edit a non-linear tale. THe most intruiging thing in this movie is the following.
The protagoinist can go back in time and set things right ( or worng). So he has a method( ala time machine) for going back. He does it five-six times in the movie. Assume you start at time"A" and go to time"B" do what you want to do and then come back to "A".
Now, the stunning contribution of the mvoie is in one of those rides, he goes from time "A" to time B" and realizes something is worng goes to time "A*" ,fixes the mistakes between "A" and "B" and arrives back into "A" from "A*". It is easy to concieve but hard to tell the tale this way. I could only undertstand it from the directors cut and not from the theatrical version.
Recommend movie lovers that they see the directors cut if they have a chance, It expalins Jason(Ivan's father) and his grandfathers problems and how it has mean heriditary and why they have been institutionalized.
Do not read ahead if you have not seen the movie.

Not only this, the actual ending takes of from the heridtary problem, and a visit by Evan and his mother to an oracle( ala Matrix) who says that he does not have a life line and is not supposed to exist". Fastforward to the climax, when Evan kills himself in the womb, the "oracles" words are repated. Further, the mother keeps screaming and telling the doctors, that the child is killing himself, the doctrs think it is hysteria and then it is revaled that befroe Ivan two other sons killed themself the same way and Ivan was a ***MISTAKE** as he failed to kill himself.

similar kinda coverup for ending was done for fatal attraction, blade runner.
blade runner is most notable as complete theme has been changed due to the new ending. |

the original ending has a lot of flaws since it takes a lot of liberal assumptions that since ashton and the girl dont meet everything turns out fine.

ashton acted well in this movie. I think alternate ending is very dark, i think I would have liked that when compared to the current one.

ashton realizing that he is messing up more than he is mending his past takes a look at the pictures in the hospital when he is about to be born and goes back in time where he is still in his mothers womb and cuts the umbilical cord, thus killing himself before he is born.
