Telugutejam mama.. I am with Vonage for the past 5 months. very satisfied. took the unlimited plan that costed $25 with taxes it comes to $28. use it a lot to talk to friends and also the calls are free to Canada.. coming to power/cable outage, you can set up the calls to be forwarded to your cell phoen. so if you plan to go put of town, you can turn of comuter/disconet internet and still receive calls to cell phone.. |

Chantabbai, Manishi Meeru chala manchi Info ichaaru. I am planning to have my cell as the back-up (in case of emergencies you had mentioned). I had used the VOIP phone from Offshore (India) but never used it while I am in USA. Mee iddariki Dhanyavaadaalu. |

telugutejam mama ! Advantages: 1. You get to make free long distance calls, you get all the free features such as caller id, call waiting, three way calling, voice mail and more. 2. VOIP cost about half the cost of traditional phone services and it seem like the taxes and surcharges are much lower. Also your bill is easier to understand and it can be viewed via the Internet. You can track all your incoming and out going calls, the minutes you are using the time of day up to the very minute with real time reporting. 3. Great instant online and phone customer support which is far and beyond the service trough the big companies, no holding problems, delays, or automated calls. Disadvantages: 1. Sometimes you hear an ehco sound through your phone where it sounds like you repeating yourself. Also if your cable or dsl goes out so does your phone line. 2. No emergency reliability. Maybe you will never need it but if you have to use 911 you have to give exact address and name, they have a hard time tracking where you are and this could cost you valuable seconds. 3. You must have a dsl router or a second computer set up to run a second phone line. Unlike traditional phone services in which a phone jack in in almost every room. |

Priya Mitru lara - meelo evarynaa VOIP connection teesukunnara? How is it working out as compared to the normal Landline? I am in IL and SBC is sucking my wallet out and their service also sucks big time (apologies to the members who work for SBC). So, I am seriously considering to shift to VOIP. Please share your experiences/Advise. |
