Andhrudu: Paruchuri Murali can be happy for putting Gopichand on right track with Yagnam. Then he made Andhrudu in the same vein. The film also opened well. However the film is not that good at box office because of the second half of the film. The major drawback is the use of Hindi dialogue in the second part. The family drama was good. It sounded more like a Hindi film when drama is set against Bihar backdrop. It is said that the film is shot actually in Bihar locations for only a day and a half. Rest of Bihar was only sets. B and C centers are said to be collecting money only because of Gopichand’s image. The over all image of the film is ‘ above average’. Adirindayya Chandram: For Sivaji, who is hopeful of making progress not only in getting chances in some more films as third line hero, this film is a great disappointment. It fares badly at box office. Please. Naaku Pellaindi: It is so bad that the producer himself had to release the film. Why the buyers did not come forward to take it can be understood now. It is vulgar, with full of obscenity. The irony is the director’s name is Gandhi. This Gandhi actually launched this kind of sexy trend with ‘Sorry Naaku Pellaindi’. Because it made some money, he made it routine by making this film – replacing Sorry with Please... Athadu: This is now surely called Trivikram’s cinema. It made 75 percent of its investment right in the first two weeks. The film’s release in large number of theatres and the image it carried with associating the name of Trivikram with Mahesh drew huge crowds that sustained the houseful run for the first two weeks. Mahesh feels that ‘Athadu’ will replace the earlier image of ‘Okkadu’. He even went ahead in announcing his preparedness to play in any film that Trivikram conceives. He says he got house full reports from all the theatres even on this fifteenth day. Grahanam: The film never comes into the gamut of box office discussion, as the very concept and its execution are limited to the circles of art film. The two points associated with this film that helped to draw the some elite to the theatre is its association with the name of famous novel writer Chalam. Mohana Krishna who directed the film and wrote script had taken a story from the Chalam’s subjects with an inbuilt structure of sex oriented drama. It is the principle that lies in the belief that a coitus between a teenager and an aged woman would certainly harm the boy, that is the basic theme of the film. And Chalam named this disease as ‘Dosha Gunam’. But the director changed the name of his film to ‘Grahanam’ and called it ‘eclipse’ in English and hopes for making inroads into foreign market. And the print that is being shown in select centers of the state carries subtitles in English. It appears it received big applause when it was shown to youth of Mumbai. The producers are now scouting for foreign market. They will sure get it along with awards. Mohana Krishna already bagged best director award for handling this film in the 52nd national film festival. The trade in Andhra just ignored this film. 1, 2, 3 Amalapuram: A very bad report emerged on the very first day of its release. Except a mix of invitees and crowds with curiosity who watched the film on the opening day, it failed to draw audience from next day onwards. Three novices are featured as brothers –one, two, three from Amalapuram. Their repulsive behavior on the screen is keeping the audience away. Written By Gudipoodi Srihari Ika modalettandii ... |
