I buy dicounted gas cards from dealpass.com
A gas card costing $25 comes for $20. But they have available only for few stores Shell, Sunoco and Speedway. Here we have jsut Shell not others |

this is not true.. they will change but at every 15 days intervals. this price change is calculated based on the 15 days average of the oil pool account balance. This is controlled by Ministry of Energy and consortium of Indian oil refinaries. 
India should be more aggressive in bringing the conventional and other forms of energy at less costs to consumers with more research done..otherwise this will bust for another inflation of the century if the situation continues like this. |

i dont think petrol is subsidized in india..can anyone clarify
Earlier used to subsidise.. now with new pricing system of using a oil pool account to buy crude in a single window and calculate the deficit due to trade of oil it will change the prices every 15 days.
GOvernment is no more subsidizing the petrolium products for commercial use (diesel, petrol and Gas)
Government only requests Oil comps to susbisidize Household Gas and pays back this one. |

yeah.. because of the high crude oil costs, GOI reduced central excise duty to one of the lowest. But in US no one bothers about that aspect it seems. |

i think the venezuelan equation isnt as staightforward as it seems on face value
recently some DOD offical suggested on nationl telivision that chaves should be assasinated by the US.
as such there is no dearth for oil customers today, so china might end up getting venezuelan oil if only to piss off the yankees |

Okay, got it. Yesterday GASCO person was saying he got communication to sell at some price! So I was anxious to know.

Here is the way the gas industry works.
Firstly 2 types of stores
1)Company owned
2) Leased by Jobber.
Jobber: Person( who suppiles the oil to store from company)
lets say i lease or buy a gas station from company or jobber, I sign a contract with them saying i am going to buy oil from them.
I have to rack+2cents-3 cents
rack is the price oil company supplies
2-3 cents the jobber takes commission.
Rate determination:
Every gas station gets rate sheet faxed by the company. But lets say i bought gas today at 3.39
company 2morow can fax em saying sell at 4.00
and i will sell at 4.00 and make the profit.
If you are shell, Texaco, BP/Amoco, company decides the prices guranteing you the certain percent, 5-10 cents per gallon
Sunnoco(i used to own this) or citgo is our wish.
We change the price at our will depending the demand, competition and supply.
Sunnoco never cares how much price we set.
ex: for 1.00 for gast its 17% federal tax, 14 state tax, 1.0 environment + spillage tax+transport
so for every dollar oil is only 63-64 cents remaining everything is tax
