Unless rules have changed very recently,
as per my knowledge, there is no specific rule that would satisfy.. as per tthe current rules in order to maintain gc one must be able satisfactorily show inteent to stay.
current procedure..
apply for a re-entry permit while in US, this is similar to Advance Parole.. same app and same fee. one can apply and leave. but it is valid for one year, two years may be given for military and professional atheletes..
after one year you can not apply again for the same for another 2 years.

so re-entry permit apply sette you are indirectly cautioning the authorities, and still have to come back in one year.

Adhe citizenship apply cheyyakundaa just GC vacchaaka vellipothe they have to come here for every 6 months to keep their GC active. To avoid the hassle of coming here for every 6 months, people(most people) leave this country for good once they apply for Citizenship. Unless rules have changed very recently, this is the trend.
