AS HYDERABAD TIMES turns five today,we celebrate our ‘connect’with the city and you,the people.In all these years,we’ve shared joys,travails and weathered the bumps together.We’ve partied with you and cheered your achievements.It’s been an exciting journey. Putting together this Anniversary Issue was challenging,fun,and a bit complex too.It’s difficult to get your arms around this city… Is it ‘traditional’or ‘modern’,‘ancient’or ‘futuristic’? And in that lies its real beauty.Which city in the world has a skyline that includes a Golconda,a Charminar,and rocks that are older than the dinosaurs,all rubbing shoulders with the very hi-tech Cyberabad? The past blends with the present and the future to weave a mélange of cultures.The medley of ethnicity and modernity is what makes Hyderabad so unique and charming.Its people accept outsiders with open arms.It’s this openness that has influenced the Hyderabadi way of life,cuisine,fashion and thinking.The city’s real personality emerges despite this ambivalence.It’s a city that prepares you to be a global citizen. So,are we ready to be a global city? Absolutely.We are going through a phase of hyper growth and are poised for take-off.We have the intellectual capital,the enterprise,the industries and the economy that can ring in the change.And most importantly – the people who can lead the city to the goal. Our Anniversary issue gives you an insight into this phenomenon.We also move the focus to the people – the engineers of change. Within this limited editorial space,I would like to thank Nag,Tabu,VVS, Shilpa and Anuradha for helping us realise the fantastic lead picture for this issue.Despite being extremely busy,they made time to come together and help us capture the vibrant spirit of the young Hyderabad.
