The advent of satellite television has seen the downfall in the number of days a movie runs in the halls. Gone are the days, when a movie really runs for 175 days and over. Today, the functioning of the market is similar to that of Bollywood and Hollywood – exploiting the film to the maximum, in its initial weeks. Though, the market has grown in size, the number of days a movie ran in theatres has come down considerably. The latest sensation in amongst the trade circles is that the satellite rights of Prince Mahesh's superhit Athadu were acquired for a whopping sum of 1.8 crores. Also, the movie is one of the highest grosser in the overseas territory, crossing the records set by Mahesh's very own Okkadu. But, the response back home is not so phenomenal though the film is a big hit. The movie which released on a marginal defecit, due to the unexpectedly high production cost will now be a safe project for the producer. Most distributors have already recovered their investments on the film.
