Union Minister Dasari Naranaya Rao is playing a vital role in the relations between the film industry and the government. Yesterday in a sensation speech at the Nandi Awards function, he said, “It’s a warning to all the big conglomerates that block the theatres in bulk, making it tough for the small films to get good theatres. If this goes on the government would ensure that big sharks will not be able to do so, through law.” He also asked the industry not to encourage the dubbing of tamil films, and stated there is no shortage of talent in the industry. Meanwhile, he recently bought the distribution rights of Nagarjuna’s Super in the Vizag area. Now, in association with Asian films, he has acquired the distribution rights of Megastar’s forthcoming film Jai Chiranjeeva. Though the rate for the acquisition is not known, it was said that the price was a tad lesser than the price paid for “Shankar Dada MBBS”. The film turned out to be a good bet for the distributor, only because it was a blockbuster. Even if it was a mere hit, the buyers would not have recovered, trade analysts say. Though, there is no official announcement from Dasari, he has not denied the news either. He also plans to get into production, while giving the mantle of direction to one of his protégés. A project with Gopichand is in the pipeline. |
