wow IBM, that was something about Pankaj kapoor. these pune grads ( mostly ) are a different breed mama though am not sure where PK was from. or was he from NSD, delhi ? I especially liked his groan whenever he gets angry and has to raise his voice. also, notice the peculiar way he dances with that film actress in his daughter's wedding, the awkward style he moves his head. clearly shows it like an amateur should. SUPER

hey nenu kudaa a scene rewind chesi choosa..
boss the chap has left kamal hassans performance in nayakan way behind..truly a world class perf..
aamir khan once mentioned that pk and raghuvir yadav were the best actors in the nation..pk satta yento ippudu ardham autondi.. truly worth genuflecting..

vishal was on our local asian channel talking maqbool and the interview was a terrific insight into how great actors work..the chap mentioned how he had done his homework to take on the all those great actors but was totally unprepared for what pk would subject him to
sample this : pk asks vishal 'yeh abbaji kitne saalon se paan kha rahe hain?' vishal tells him probably since he was 15 years old.And pk goes ahead and adopts the hoarse,'coughy' voice that a person chewing tobacco since so many years would have..yem passion boss....truly amazing..

nuvvu cheppina touch gettaledu ..ill check out again.

IBM, finally. the best scene IMO of pankaj kapoor was when he breaks down think abuot lalji bhai. just notice the sequence of his expressions ( I rewound 5 times to closely follow his thinking pattern ), he's happy, turns sombre, breaks down and is back again. in one take.

I think that mumbai mehbooba scene should be taken along with his next stmnt of 'jis insaan ki maksad phayida na ho, woh kisikaa kaam nahin aatha' or some such thing. I dont think they tried to show him as 'patriotic' , if that professor ( did you 'get' the 'touch' here ? :-) ) had been a pure biz man, they would have accepted his offer, ani naa thought.

I tried hard but couldnt resist downloading maqbool from desi torrents..same problem..volume was too low...was a strain on my auditory nerves but was worth it (seen just half the movie...didnt get the complete other half)...

mana jeevi saar aaina reviews lo konni sample dialogues raasi vaatini waah waah ani pogidevaadu.. and i would never get what the hell was so special in those dialogues..they appeared so cliched ..and so run of the mill...but now i feel like giving him the benefit of doubt..maqbool is a classic example of how stark and otherwise innocuous sounding dialogue can take on such an electrifying effect with the right placement...

when abbaji thrusts the paan in the politicians mouth and says 'gilauri khaaya karo gulfaam zabaan kaabu mein rahaa karti hai'...yem effect boss...de taali..!!!

on the flip side u have abbajis dialogue that goes 'bambai meri mehbooba hai..ise chodkar hum karachi dubai mein nahin bas sakte'....what was the point? to show that abbaji is a benevolent haji mastaan type of don and not a diabolic dawood ibrahim type..when will our filmakers stop having that one cliched moment to show a "patriotic muslim"?I would just cut this crap...
