We have witnessed many period films in Telugu like “Bhaktha Tukaram”, “Thyagayya”, “Annamayya”, “Bhaktapothanna” to name a few. Few of them became classics of Telugu film history; “Annamaya” is one…..A masterpiece to core. Nagarjuna delivered shattering performance, Keeravani gave memorable and melodious music and Ragavendra rao molded a tinsel classic.
“Ramadasu” the devotee of lord Rama is in the hearts of every Telugu man through his keerthanas. Every one in Telugu speaking place knows about Ramadasu but not many of the present generation know about the detailed history. How would one know about the great Rama bhakta and his work? Unless they read big books on him or watch a film like Ramadasu. The movie Sri Ramadasu is one good opportunity to know about great poet and great Rama devotee. “Sri Ramadasu” like “Annamayya” will take us through the journey, which reflects our Telugu culture and heritage. Ramadasu kind of a movie is must watch to every one and especially to the people living abroad away from their motherland. These movies are a kind of relief for all the people who watch regular masala stuff movies. We don’t get to see these kinds of movies very often.
Let me ask you one straight question, how many of us know in detail about Annamaya and his keerthanas before the release of the movie, not many. The movie if not 100 percent, took us close to know many more details about the great man. A great attempt on the part of makers and it went on to become a classic of Telugu film history. Sri Ramadasu will be in line with Annamaya movie by showing our Telugu poet history and his devotion towards Rama and more importantly will take us through the journey of mythology and Telugu culture with scintillating music.
Kudos to makers on there part in coming forward and attempting such a novel movie which can appeal to old and young, men and woman not to forget class and mass.
