Rayudu to open new innings for Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Promising Ambati Thirupati Rayudu, who played for Andhra Ranji team last season, is all set to return to the Hyderabad team. The 20-year-old dashing batsman, who had a run-in with the Hyderabad Cricket Association – the famous Anantapur incident where there was a brawl, met HCA secretary Shivlal Yadav and expressed his desire to play for Hyderabad again. Confirming the transfer move, Yadav said they had no objection to Rayudu playing for Hyderabad. ‘‘We welcome his return. But he has to get the no objection certificate from the Andhra Cricket Association to play for Hyderabad,’’ he said.
According to HCA sources, this could be a formality. If Rayudu returns it will boost his career and also strengthen the Hyderabad batting. Rayudu, an excellent timer of the ball and a brilliant fielder, had run into poor form for the last two seasons.
Rayudu, who captained the under-19 Indian World Cup team in Bangladesh, is rated highly by cricket pundits. After making Ranji debut at the age of 17, he began his first class career in a big way. He hit a double century and a century in a match against Andhra at Gymkhana. Indian colts coach Roger Binny thought Rayudu was cut for higher grade of cricket.
‘‘He is a class batsman,’’ said a former Ranji player, ‘‘Even as some of his under-19 players like Suresh (Raina), Irfan (Pathan), Kaarthick, VRV Singh, RP (Singh) have graduated to the Indian team, Rayudu is languishing in Ranji cricket. He is a class player and technically very sound. He can be an ideal one-day player. I think he is making the right move to resurrect his career.’’
In fact, Indian coach Greg Chappell had a word of appreciation of this batsman. But poor form and off-the-field incidents led to unnecessary controversies. His new move may usher in a bright career.

I think raidu will definitely make it from hyd mama.
Arjun yadav last 3 seasons lo vadi batting avg 20 kuda ledu plus vadu asalu bowling ee veyadam ledu inka ekkadi allrounder mama vadu. just sivalal punyama ani untannadu.

mama push undi mama. but he is worth the push. definitega. i hav followed his progress since my school days mama. even in challenger trophy he fared better than raidu. nuvve gamaninchu mama ika nunchi ayna, u will say i am right.

porapatu mama. he has better future with andhra team. Venu vachindi andhra nunche kada mama? hyd nunchi last player eppudu vachado evarikaina gurthunda? hydlo unte tokkestaru mama. player competition chala undi kabatti. maatho schools appudu arjun yadav oka mamoolu player. kani ippudu chala manchi all rounder and captain. so i dont think raydu will fare well with hyd.

i think some body has talked to shivlal yadav and everything seems to be fine. even shivlal seems to have pacified considering raidus age .

Ambati Rayudu has come back home a much-chastened man.
The middle-order batsman moved to the Andhra Ranji team last year after a spat with the powers-that-be at the Hyderabad Cricket Association.
The Hyderabadi is now back where he originally belonged letting bygones be bygones.
“I am very happy I have come back. As they say it is better late than never. I hope to start the season fresh just like I started playing for Hyderabad Ranji Trophy four years back,” said Rayudu.
Rayudu did not exactly do too well with the Andhra team. His exclusion from the South Zone side was perhaps the last straw.
The Hyderabad Association will give Rayudu one more chance and hopes the mercurial cricketer will realise that his relations with his teammates is as important as his cricketing talent.
“Basically one has to gel with the team. I am sure with little bit of maturity and little bit of counseling, he can work on that,” said Shivlal Yadav, Secretary, Hyderabad Cricket Association.
But the HCA too cannot afford to take the moral high ground. The Hyderabad Ranji side did very badly this season and would do well to include an in-form Rayudu.
