Emerging Australian filmmaker Murali K. Thalluri has been honoured with the nomination of his seminal debut feature film 2:37 in the 'Un Certain Regard' category at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. Arguably one of the most important Australian films in recent years, 2:37, distributed in Australia by Roadshow Films, is a moving and thought-provoking film chronicling the lives of six high school students over one day. 'This is such a great honour, especially to have my film included in the same category as such greats as Rolf de Heer and Richard Linklater', Murali commented today, following the announcement. The Adelaide-based writer and director continued, 'I couldn't ask for a more perfect start, when ultimately, all I ever hoped for is to be able to sustain a lifelong filmmaking career.' Roadshow Films’ Managing Director, Joel Pearlman added 'This is a very exciting step in the journey of 2:37. It's fantastic for Roadshow to witness and be involved in the launch of an important new Australian filmmaker.' 2:37 features outstanding performances by an all-Australian ensemble cast including Teresa Palmer, Joel Mackenzie, Marni Spillane, Charles Baird, Clementine Mellor, Frank Sweet and Sam Harris. The film was co-produced by Murali K. Thalluri, Nick Mathews and Kent Smith. Roadshow Films will release 2:37 in cinemas across Australia later this year. ee vidamugaaaa vunthadhiiii cinema MASS anthey Istham, BEZAWADA anthey Pranam |
