Tamil 'Pokiri is going to be directed by Prabhu Deva. The dubbing rights of the film were sold out at Rs. 1.4 crore. This would be first Tamil film to be directed by Prabhu Deva.
Apart from this, the film is a hardcore action film with little love and less romance, unlike Pranhu Deva’s previous directorial movies in Telugu.
Financier Ramesh is producing the film with Vijay in main lead. Although the directors like Vishnu Vardhan, Hari and Jeeva have denied directing Vijay, Prabhu Deva agreed upon doing. 
Heroine is yet to be decided for the film and Mani Sharma scores music again for Tamil version as well. The film is scheduled to release for Diwali 2006.
