Another terror tale from Tollywood, even before the case of shooting star Nandamuri Balakrishna is erased from public memory. Producer-director Teja allegedly beaten up junior film artiste K Naveen Reddy and confined for three days during the shooting of the film Dhairyam.
The Chatrinaka police has registered a case against Teja, said sub-inspector Venkateshwar Rao. He has been charged under Sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 323 (assault) and 506 (threatening), based on Reddy’s complaint.
Reddy, reportedly a distant relative of a legislator from Guntur district, is playing a character role Dhairyam, being shot in Jangammet in the old city over the past month. He was beaten up by Teja in front of the shooting crew on July 23. When Reddy shouted back, Teja allegedly got Reddy kidnapped and had him confined in his office in Banjara Hills, the SI said quoting from Reddy’s complaint.
Naveen claimed he was tortured for three days and let off on July 26. He went to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences and on July 29 evening lodged the complaint. “We are investigating the case. As of now, it is only a complaint. We will take action based on our enquiries,” the SI said.
