Experts say the deal is poised to change the economics of Bollywood. Over the last few years, the market has opened up tremendously. With the advent of multiplexes, the collections in major cities have skyrocketed. Rang De Basanti, for example, made over Rs 50 crore all over the country.
More recently, the countrywide collections for the Aamir Khan-Kajol starrer Fanaa were a whopping Rs 32 crore in just seven days. Feroz Nadiadwala’s Phir Hera Pheri is the latest big hit, which has raked in Rs 27 crore in the first week, despite releasing much fewer prints than Fanaa.
