Navadeep - the film grabber
Bagging good films mostly depends on the success rate of one’s earlier films. But here is a hunk Navadeep from Tollywood, who has been an exception to the above premise. Though Navadeep has had no major success to his credit, he has been managing to grab offers.
Says he, ‘‘Though my films have not done well, my performance as an actor has been appreciated. I think this might be the reason why I am still getting offers.’’ His latest flick Seethakokachiluka is a bilingual ready for release simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil on June 30. Ilavattam is its Tamil title. As the title Seethakokachiluka reminds one of Bharathiraja’s Seethakokachiluka, expectations are bound to be high.
‘‘Though it’s the same title, storywise there is no relation between Bharathiraja’s film and this film directed by Rajarajan. The only similarity in these films is that they have a rural backdrop,’’ reveals Navadeep.
The film is about the problems faced by youth in their teenage. It is a commercial film with a new dimension. Sheila, a newcomer, is the heroine.
Though Navadeep has acted in films like Jai, Manasumata Vinadu, Modati Cinema, Gautham SSC and Premante Inthe, he tasted his first success in Tamil with the film Arindhum Ariyamalum which made him a familiar face there.
Now, producers have the advantage of making a film featuring the actor in both Tamil and Telugu. Apart from Ilavattam, Navadeep has another film in Tamil titled Nenjal Jil Jil shooting for which was wound up recently. Nenjal Jil Jil is also a love story directed by Selva and shot in the backdrop of London. Aparna is the heroine.
Navadeep has acted in two films Modati Cinema and Premante Inthe with actress Poonam Bajwa apart from featuring with her in an ad for Rexona. Asked to comment on his pairing with Poonam Bajwa, Navadeep explains, ‘‘Rexona people were looking for the best new on-screen pair for their ad and they selected us. That’s it.’’
Navadeep is right now on a short break and will resume shooting in July for a film which is going to be directed by debutante Srinivas.
‘‘I want to act in films with subjects that suits my age and body language,’’ he says.
