“ Manchiki Manchi-Punch ki punch’ is the latest axiom of Balakrishna. What did he show in the film? Observing keen, we understand that neither punch nor ‘manchi’ was shown in right degree on screen. Hence audiences have shown their back for that. Would it be called heroism if the hero keeps on punching the villains by shouting a yell? The purpose of fight and the degree of anger that is shown on screen should be in accordance with each other. Sukhbodhananda says, “Getting anger is very easy. But getting that at right time, at right place in right degree is important”. That understanding draws the line between a brainless hero and a sane one. Brain and brawn should be in equal proportion while projecting the heroism. That’s totally missing in recent films. When there is right mix of brain and brawn and when the audiences get convinced to the degree of violence they see on screen, then the film would turn a hit. ‘Pokiri’ can be furrowed in this category. Not merely the action numbers, but the films like ‘Bommarillu’ and ‘Devadasu’ celebrate at box offices only with that conviction in drama. For instance, Nitin’s ‘Raam’ was an example for preposterous film. The chocolate boy throws away the muscular men. He shows the power of brawn in its absence. It would have been convincing if he fights with negative elements by using brain. Why the director couldn’t give a thought to that? Hollywood film makers, here show the difference in right way. James Bond fights with brain and uses little muscle. Rambo uses big muscle and that looks convincing. But our Tollywood heroes are neither Sylvester Stallone nor Arnolds to show high ‘punch’ fights. On the other hand, our script writers are not giving a thought to project the hero as an intelligent one. Jr NTR in Ashok is another passive hero. Can we recall what his heroism is after coming out from theaters? The beheading scene and high punch fights are not in right degree of anger that has to be shown on screen. In fact, film should be far from reality to attract masses. People identify themselves in hero and visualize their brawny dreams. But the same masses cannot digest the scenes those are not convincing. Although hero assumes to be in deep action, his characterization goes passive when there is no proper conviction in drama. The film makers should learn this difference and craft convincing and levelheaded films. Otherwise, the chronicle of ‘Narasimhudu’, ‘Veerabhadra’, Jai Chiranjeeva, Brahmastram etc would continue for ever by blazing the budget to ash. http://greatandhra.com/special/usha.chowdary/punch _hero.php
