The novel publicity campaign- highlighting the grand temple set and the sentimental episodes in the movie- has caught the attention of its target audience viz ladies and family audience and the viewer composition has changed significantly since the third week. More people from these segments are beginning to watch Arjun everywhere and in some centers the percentage of ladies and families is manifested to be very high.
While Arjun is creating new box-office records in centers like Tirupathy, Vijayanagaram, Vijayawada, Kakinada and Madanapally, it is consistently having an occupancy rate of 80 to 85% elsewhere. In Hyderabad, it is reported that the main theater Sandhya 35mm is now collecting a gross amount of 1 lakh perday(maximum collection is 1.30 lakhs per day) even on weekdays while the rest of the theaters are retaining the high occupancy rates, which are hovering around the 80% mark. It has also picked up very well in other prominent centers lin Nizam like Karimnagar, Mehaboobnagar etc. Meanwhile, fans from Warangal and some other centers in Nizam have successfully thwarted the plans to terminate the movie in four centers including Hanumakonda, where it is fetching good returns. Mr. D.Rambabu, President of All India Superstar fans association, looked outraged in the meeting held at Padmalaya immediately after the rally and reiterated that fans will not hesitate to retaliate in the event of any unqualified terminations.
As agreed earlier, Arjun was taken out from Sangam in Vizag after the stipulated period during which it collected a share of 7.5 lakhs. With a solitary theater in the city, Arjun is going great guns at Jyothy and in Gajuwaka. It is also doing fantastic business in all the other areas in North Andhra.
As expected, Krishna pushkaraaalu are having a favorable impact on the collections of Arjun as more theaters were added (for few days) in Vijayawada to control the crowds. In Ceded, Arjun’s collections are at par with that of Okkadu and fans are confident that it will get at least 37 50’s there. Fans, who are in touch with the VMC distributors, opine that the team’s visit to the territory later in the third week of September will enable the movie to break even much earlier than anticipated. While more details are yet to come in from West and East Godavari territories, Arjun is firing from all cylinders in Kakinada and Rajamundry.
Arjun, which had a delayed debut in U.S., is strongly positioned to become one of the all time highest grossers here. People at KAD entertainments, the distributors for the film here, are walking their way to the banks as huge crowds turned out to watch this movie in several centers like New Jersey, Detroit, Atlanta, Virginian and the Bay area. While the exact range of the film can be gauged only after the release of Gudumba Shankar, Mahesh Babu is now flying without wings with his Arjun.
