Sumant has a bright future –K Balachander
With his Satyam a super hit, Sumant has scored a repeat success with his recent Gowri, a remake of the renowned director K Balachander’s production company’s Tamil Tirumalai. The original has received lukewarm response on its release and gradually built up momentum to eventually become a super hit. The Telugu version Gowri generated ‘hit’ talk on the very first day of its release and collected tremendous openings everywhere. This is a happy augury for the up-and-coming actor Sumant who recently married to Actress Keerti Reddy.
Director K Balachander and his daughter Ms Pushpa Kandaswamy expressed great pleasure at their Tirumalai’s Telugu version Gowri achieving super success. Commending the acting and emoting performance of Sumant in Gowri, Balachander said he is a young actor with a bright future. ‘Sri Nageswara Rao garu is a precious gem of the Indian Film Industry. As a third generation heir of his, Sumant is capable of holding his banner aloft.’
Incidentally, it was director K Balanchander who molded the careers of South India’s top-ranking star Ranjikant and leading actor Kamal Hassan.
Balachander, who made Maro Charitra and Antuléni Kadha in Telugu, has produced Tamil films under his Kalakéndra Films banner, with all the lead actors. The ace director who inspired many is set to make films in Telugu, too, shortly under his Kalakéndra Films banner. Now his daughter is making the films under Kavitalaya banner.

Gowri collected 1.6 crores share in 1st week - Sravanthi Ravi Kishore
Sravanthi Ravi Kishore said that Gowri film has become a good success by releasing on 3rd September. He informed that Gowri collected a big share of 1.6 crores in 1st week by releasing with 68 prints, which made 1st week share per print as 2.35 lakhs. Gowri is expected collect a share of more than 10 crores in long run. Sravanthi Ravi Kishore did not get offers from distributors that match his expectation before the release of the film. Hence he had to release the film on his own for all territories. He took a risk for an amount of more than 5 crores by not selling it. Sravanthi Ravi Kishore feels that video piracy is one thing that should be eradicated right away.
Unexpected fantastic openings - Sumanth
Sumanth thanked Telugu film lovers for blessing Gowri with fantastic openings. He opined that Gowri is a treat to fans as there are many moments that would regale fans. At present, Gowri is very steady with collections and the film would become a big hit if this trend continues. Sumanth said that females like the good action sequences in Gowri a lot. Sumanth concluded that Gowri is a mass film that caters to all classes of audiences.
Lots of claps for Gowri - Ramana BV
Budding director Ramana BV whom success was eluding for the past 4 years is finally ecstatic about his film generating positive talk all over. He thanked everybody for generating unanimous good talk in all quarters. He said that he observed the most powerful dialogues ever written in Telugu screen in Gowri after Prati Ghatana. He also opined that good music played positive role. Ramana BV declared that 'Gowri' is one film that received most number of claps in the past 3 years.
No scope for music in a mass film - Koti
Music director Koti opined that there is less scope for music in mass films like Gowri. Even then the music of the film has become a big hit. He opined that Sumanth is the main highlight of this film.

The unit of Sravanthi Movies, the makers of Sumanth’s latest film Gowri, held a press meet today. The producer Sravanthi Ravi Kishore announced that the film was made on a budget of 4.5 crores, and collected a share of 1.62 crores in the first week. It was released with 68 prints, and accumulated a share of 74 lakhs from Nizam alone. It could be because the film was captioned “Area – Dhoolpet” which its Nizam-centric and also this region is a strong hold of Sumanth’s uncle Nagarjuna. The trade declared the film as a ‘hit’ as the film there was no major drop in the film’s collections in the second week, and it’s expected to fetch more than the investment. Ravi Kishore says, “As per the present situation, I feel the film will generate a share of about 10 crores in the long run.”
