friends,
I am one of you whom you on the DB. Today is the day which is haunting me like hell.
it was another day after playing cricket in the outskirts and chatting with friends i proceded to home on my bicycle. It was almost dark. I was passing through a not well-lit place in between scaterred houses. suddenly i heard a tiny voice of a girl from a ongoing construction. out of curiousity i walked towards the sound. I had my cricket bat in hand. just as i turned around the corner i came face to face with a guy with a knife threatening a girl with her back on the wall and trying to grab something from her neck. It was almost dark.I was startled and he attacked with the knife. i got a scratch on the high-arm and involuntarily i ran backwards. he came after me and i weilded my bat with force. It hit him on the head and he dropped on the ground.
god i could see the blood flowing.i couldnt move for 5 minutes. the girl ran beside me. I woke up scared to death. dragged my feet back to the bicycle.couldnt even pedal it. i just held it went to the nearby pump washed myself and the bat. The wound on the arm was more like a big scratch and wasnt visible but the shirt was a bit torn.
i walked for some distance.Began to think about being caught by sniffer dogs. with some difficulty i got on the bicycle and cycled all over the town and returned to home in a circular way.
hid the shirt.couldnt sleep at all.next morning was saturday. i just sat all day and thoughts scared me like hell.In the sunday paper there was a news about a guy found dead where the incident happened. They identified him and quoted the family saying that he is a nice guy and he went out saying that he would get money from a friend for the household as they were very poor.
i was left nowhere. a mixture of guilt and fear used to haunt me everyday. after 2 months i became normal and never used to remember that at all. i was fine as if nothing happened.
later i came here and i feel that i have become more sensitive over the years.for the past one year it comes in my thoughts.i feel the guilt of harming a family and a person.may be all he intended was to steal from the girl which i think is no big deal than what i did.i dont know what to do.i dont want to reveal to anyone i know.i just cant.
please tell me what you think. since this is a virtual world i managed to tell you guys.my identity is not revealed at all.
